Going to Bogota with my son in June.

I am planning on going to Bogota to have plastic surgery and vacation in June. I'm planning on staying 2 weeks. I am taking my brother with me because he has been wanting to travel to Columbia for a while. I am 36 and having breast augmentation and some lipo before I return home. During my vacation I'd like to stay somewhere close to a nice beach, see the jungle, and visit zoos. I love animals. My brother just wants to get wasted.He's heard, like all of us, about how cheap cocaine is in Columbia, and how pure it is. Normally, he just drinks a lot of beer, but every now and then he likes to enjoy a joint or a line or two.
He's my younger brother. I used to party a little too in my younger years, so I guess I can understand that, even if I don't condone it.

I'm sure it will be dangerous for him to be trying to buy drugs from locals. I'd like for him to be able to meet someone from that area who could show him around, and ME too for that matter. I've done a lot of research about plastic surgery in Bogota, but as for research about vacationing I've only just begun. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Misslisa, if you use the Google search bar at the left of the site, you'll probably find hundreds of posts on both good and bad vacation ideas - Cartagena is probably where you want to go for beaches, and I don't know about zoos. To get to Cartagena you'll have to take a flight from Bogota.

By the way, before someone flames you for it (sure to happen), the correct spelling is Colombia with an 'o' in the middle.

look at the map..... yea 1st of all its COLOMBIA, not columbia, learn it.....

2nd, if you look at a map, you're not gonna see any beaches in or near Bogota, only mountains....if you want beaches then go to Cartagena, they are beautiful....

3rd, you said you are going to breast augmentation and lipo....you are going to need at least 2-3 weeks of recuperation becuase you are not gonna be able to get up and go walking in the beach or zoo's. i've had a few family members that have done the same surgery and they were in bed and not going around vacationing. after the 2nd week you will be feeling better but if laying on the beach and showing your stuff is what you plan, sorry for ya! you are gonna be swollen and in pain. if surgery is your plan for the trip, then vacation activities is not unless you have more time.

is your son older or young? becuase you might have to think about that too to take care of him...

your brother now has to be careful because he doesn't know where he's going, what hes doing and what he's gonna be snorting. i dont recomend him going out partying out solo, it'll be dangerous....do yous speak spanish or are gringos? all he has to do is find a nice Colombiana and he'll be happy, trust me.....

Hate to dissapoint But there is little jungle in the area around Bogota. If you want jungle you'll definitely have to head further affield. Bogota has a temperate climate, that usually maxes out at 21 C in the daytime and can hover betwen 6-10 C at night.

I agree that you need to do some serious research prior to going, you seem to have dramatically innaccurate image of the place. Visiting colombia isn't a beach resort in Mexico or some wild drug trip into ramboland - but you need to do your homework if you are going on your own.
