Tom, I always recommend Hotel Versalles. They have a variety of rooms at different prices. Plenty of places to eat close by, if you don't want to eat at the hotel. I always eat out, less money and good food.
Have a great time, and e-mail me if you have any questions. Shifty

hotel american golf, nice hotel , nice area, you can get a room there for what your looking to spend, if your staying for more than a week , youll do even better. hotel prado is a rip off , hotel royal right next door is cheap , but nothing great, check out american golf , you wont regret it. jon

The Jesus Alvarez Apartahotels is good and probably the cheapest route.

RJQuilla, you mean Alvaro Jesus. How much is it for a night now?

Hotel Prado is the best....for $85 a night.......suite, great pool, sauna, steam room. The best deal in BQ for the price. In Cartagena it would be double the price. Beautiful hotel

never go to bed with someone crazier then you are, you will do it and you will regret it.......

There have been quite a few new hotels opening up around BAQ the past few years. I have an apartment now so I am not really up on the latest changes.

I always put people up at the Versailles. This is where I put my family (my mum, sisters, friends) when they come to visit my wife and daughter (not enough room in our one-bedroom apartment). They have rooms with kitchens where you can cook and the staff has always been very helpful and friendly. Rates are about CO$110,000, but with repeat business they will usually lower it if you ask.

I would stay away from the Alvaro Jesus as I despise these people. I stayed there many times about 4 years back when I was still courting my wife, but was severely disappointed with the service, attitude, and prices. They tried to double up the advertised rate on me the last time I was there because they said I used too much electricity (the compressor in the A/C was always running because there was barely any freon left in the ancient unit). These people get real upset if you stay in your apartment during the day (again because of the the A/C and the electric). Used to be family-friendly, but now it seems the attitude here is to cater to the mongering crowd.

Check that from my post above: The Vallclaire, not the Versailles. I have had friends stay at the Versailles and they said it was fine, but it is a hotel. If you're staying for some time, you might want something more like an apartment.
