Going rate for flights out of Miami?

I think you would have to pay the IVA but don't really know.. International flights I would find probably better in the States but local flights in Colombia will probably best to buy there.

You have three options and search all...Avianca and American Direct or Copa via Panama. Aeropostal has stopped the Caracas-Medellin route so that is out..

Thanks Dave, I know you go back & forth quite a bit.. Aeropostal?? I had the worst experience with them getting stuck in Caracas en route to Valencia once.. They were a joke as far as help went.. Everyone bitches about customs in Colombia,but that`s `cause they`ve never been through it in Caracas... that being said, since I have approx. 3 months until my trip.should I book now?? Tough call you can lose or win...its like Las Vegas.. I always book ahead and most of the time I win..and will lose sometimes on those last minute fares but most of the time its better to book ahead. You just missed the AA Sale i bought four tickets at 335.70 each in October,November, and early December..

Right now I see Copa as your best deal at www.copaair.com.. You should only pay right now including all taxes 446.70 on there website but you will need to go via Panama I do that route all the time when AA and Avianca rates are high.

It seems a little early for the Holidays to be all filled up already.
In past years, it has always seemed to me that somewhere at the end of September or maybe into early October, the prices take that last jump, because so much is filled up by then.

This probably is of no help, because I don't know how to figure out when they have good rates. But, once, I got tickets on LAN Chile from Miami to Bogota, round trip, for $350. I guess it is just luck of the draw and timing. But the Bogota stop is actually a stop between Miami and Santiago. Maybe that's why it was so cheap. Anyway, it is worth checking out.

Well Yea tickets do get higher and higher as each week passes by. When I first started doing some research for flights to peireira they were cheaper. Last week they had about 3 flights that were 507, 626 for roundtrip, for late december and early jan. And this week when I checked, those three flights were no longer available and the prices strated of at $849. They usually say that u should wait for a wednesday because thats usually the day the airlines change the prices. But its also good to wait till early thursday. Thats how i was able to buy mine at $710. But i would say u have it easier since ur flying to bogota. with my case, theirs no direct flight from miami to peireira. So try too first check prices somewhere else like travelocity, and compare prices with ur friend in bogota. Sometimes travel agencies have higher prices. So what i can say is do ur research and whenever you see a decent flight, make the reservation.

Not gettng expensive at all I just received some of the best prices with American Airlines but the sale is over I bought four round trip tickets for November and October for 335.70 Miami direct to Medellin roundtrip including all taxes..For four separate dates..I was buying the normal webfare with Copa for 446.70 including all taxes only was able to get that on www.copaair.com. and still using that base webfare with Copa because AA and Avianca you need to catch them on specials.. I wish I could fly to Bogota like RJ seems to be more competition to that market instead of Medellin.

Also for Christmas 12/21-01/02 I purchased with Avianca 647.93 including all taxes for those dates MIA direct to Medellin but coming back need to go via Cali back to MIA those dates were tough..but I am locked since early July.. Trust me lock in soon for Christmas not many seats to Medellin.

Lost Gringo if you want direct Avianca looks they way to go for you..but Copa is not bad everytime I leave for MIA out of Panama the Los Angeles flight is a few gates away..See many people lined up for that flight for LAX so they must be giving good prices..

If you go with Copa they are affliated with Aero Republica so you will deal with them on the MDE-Bogota and then with them probably to Panama then off to LAX via Copa...

But direct flight from Bogota Avianca is the direct flight to LAX.

Well using it now. I looked this morning still winning one of the bids..but won't go overboard you need read that taxes are not included 145 Skyauction Fee 20 and Medellin is a surcharge of 40 over Bogota but I am sure will catch a few tickets here.. I know the prices like a hawk out there...

Recently just bought four roundtickets for 199.00 plus taxes with American on that crazy special they had buy by August 6th was for about two weeks only..Damn the taxes were almost the same as the flight:335.70 per roundtrip which I have not seen cheaper than that in over a year....I think Avianca once was 199 plus the taxes..So if I can get tickets at 250-300 including taxes on Sky Auction will be doing good..Average ticket I buy over the last years period to Medellin is about 450 including taxes.

Wish I read your thread on sky auction two years ago Mike....
