Right now Venezuelans who want to be free are proresting in the streets against Chavez. The venezuelans realize their freedoms are being taken away more and more every day. Chavez has sent his police into the streets to attack the freedom protestors with gas and guns. A small number of police have taken the side of the protestors. The protestors are chanting that they want Chavez, Cuba and Nicaragua out of their country. I wonder how all this effects Colombia being that Colombia is right next door to Venezuela and Colombia ?

Chavez has just shut the power off at the very last free speech there is in Venezuela whish is RCTV. He plans to totally control the Venezuelan people , he wants to turn it into another Cuba. The people are fighting back, the police are taking the side of the people against Chaves, people are pouring out of buildings to march in the protest, the news says nurses and workers of all trades, school kids, everyone is marching against Chavez. miamimike says on May 28, 2007, 14:42: And it is something the Venezuelan People must take upon themselves, if they want or do NOT want Chavez as their leader in Venezuela. I could care less as its none of my Business or that of the USA at this point. Venezuela presents NO threat to the US Mainland,,,Any Guns or Missiles aimed at our shores? I do belive the last time there was that failed Coup Attempt Bush had the CIA down there attempting to stir things up which as we know now, backfired. We have our hands full with the Iraq mess, then NK, Iran so an afternoon of a Spirited Pot Banging Episode is the least of our Worries at this moment! LOL Start worrying when you see some ABMs pointed towards Miami or Crawford, Texas! LOL BTW in an interview with some local Venezuelans who travel often to Miami, many say this deal is way overblown and who should know better then people who live there? US trade exports to Venezuela are presently at all time high and they still are one of our largest trading partners for Exports here in the port of miami. Like I say, go there and see for yourself! 2 hr flight from Miami! Venezuelan Woman are muy bonita also! Lots of Fun! I wish that Miss Venezuela who ran for Prez a few years ago would have Won, she is much easier on the eyes the Hugo but not as entertaining ! miamimike says on May 28, 2007, 14:55: No Scotty, as A Vietnam Era Veteran my "PRIORITY" earlier today as a Veteran was attending our Local Memorial Day Service where we payed Homage to our Veterans. That is my Priority every Memeorial Day before anything else like a beer drinking BarB-Q and that was fulfilled, Thank You. I am sure Honoring our Own US Veterans was also more of a priority then what was transpiring in Venezuela with the Pot&Pan Banging! Surprised you did not mention the true meaning of Freedom/Memorial Day,,, Happy Veterans Day to the Vets here who served and Thank You for your Service,,,We as a country are grateful,,, Avatar Legend: Bush "If any of you Reporters are wondering, it was a Size 10" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

españoleta says on May 28, 2007, 15:32: seriously.... what else could be expected given chavez's political moves over the past years... hes just given himself unlimited power to legislate over nearly every aspect of economy politics social policts and... basically just about everything. The thing is, no matter how many people protest against this in the streets, Chavez has actually been voted into power (despite all irregularities that could be claimed about elections) and has survived to attepts to overthrow him and he is still president of venezuela. Despite all the populist speeches and politicies, there are a lot people who really support him (he gives people what they want which in the end is an essential part of politics nowadays). The key question here is why do they feel like chavez is the way forwards for them? Maybe due to all the previous "democratic" governments who have to a greater or lesser extent benefited from their positions in governement? Maybe the only option left is that we see once again how a charismatical leader becomes into some sort of dictator who remains in power until by whatever means he gives over power or is overthrown or even dies in power; maybe then venezuela can get a fresh start once again in some sort of cyclical pattern... I dont know...
