All this talk about hot water, here's my project in Cali right now. Haceb has production plants in medellin. They sell the naked 100 liter tanks (without the electric parts and insulation) for about 270,000 cop each...
since CO is at/near the equator your system does not even have to go at an angle.
Weld a support structure for the outside box, cover that outside of the box in galvanized sheet metal. This will need to be for 1-3 tanks depending on the size of your family.
Insulate the box with foil insulating board. Foil inside and caulk EVERYTHING, (every seam total)!!! Build a hinged door frame of metal holding THICK glass (5mm glass or more). Seal the door and frame to the glass with caulk silicone.
You need foam insulation to seal the door to the box. Paint the tanks glossy black if you can find that (engine paint) (flat black is ok as well, but glossy a bit better)...
Inlet your ground water into the bottom of the tank and out the top. This passive system will heat the water using only line pressure (no freezing) so the passive system is fine...
For mutiple tank systems, start line into the bottom in of tank 1 to top of tank 2, top of tank 2 to bottom of tank 3...
Take the lines in and out of the box (seal around any openings. Lay this in your yard or on top of your roof or buildin (it's heavy so make sure your roof will handle it..8lbs per gallon of water)
This will heat in south florida or colombia to 110 degrees..
Tip, take your showers at night as the water will cool some before the morning.
Free hot water, so no more discussions necessary. jaajjaajajajajaja

If all goes well, you can just call my maestro and he can do it for you also. If you've got that many meters on top, your place is at least that, double or triple (BIG f'n house). So you'll want AT LEAST 3 tanks of 100 liters each for 6 people.

Desideria (Moderator) says on Apr 10, 2007, 23:31: No. I don't have that much backyard to put a pool in it, but yes, a jacuzzi would fit. Geez, why didn't I think about it before? Anyway, I have to do some more repairs/and/or remodelling of the house as soon as I can afford it. The solar water heaters would fit snuggly on my roof and you wouldn't even see them from the street. Send me an e-mail so I can be in touch with you outside this forum and once in Cali. I'd also like to see pics of the finished product and a price quote from your maestro.
