Getting your post/mail on time

Dear All

Has anyone found a reliable way to get post and parcels from overseas. I never seem to get postcards friends say they have sent and parcels - well forget it.

Grateful for any great tips on how people get post!

We either use FedEx or send packages with someone travelling to or from Colombia.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

I think part of the answer depends on where your friends send the post from. I've sent several packages to my gf in Barranquilla, and unlike many people here, I have not had any problem with missing items. The only problem I have had, is using Canada Post, it takes between 3 to 5 weeks for the package to be delivered. I think the problem is with Adpostal (the colombian postal service... but more on Adpostal later) and / or Customs in colombia, as the package should be in Colombia within a couple days by using air mail.

I could use FedEx, UPS, DHL etc, but the prices could range up to $200 for what I wanted to send.

I just sent some documents to my gf, using Servientrega (spelling???) in Miami. Much better price, and the service should be much faster than the way I sent packages before... but I am waiting for the documents to arrive in Miami (do a search if you want more info)

As for Adpostal, the company was liquidated last month (August) by the president, and a subsiduary was given the 'right' to deliver mail. What this means in practical terms, I do not know. Has anyone had experience with the new postal service??

Not really But I can say that standard mail was definitely rather sluggish, especially that coming from abroad, even long before Adpostal was liquidated.

Haven't had any further mailing experiences since then, so I can't speak for the new service (which I suppose shouldn't be up and running perfectly either, not so soon).
