Getting married, then what?

My girlfriend and I are planning to get married soon in Colombia. She has twice been refused a visa to come to Europe and WE FEEL THIS IS OUR ONLY OTHER OPTION....after two years of trying to get to Colombia as often as I can we really want to be together and start planning our future.
Do any of you know what happens after the civil marriage?
Can we travel to Europe as husband and wife or is a visa still required?
I would really appreciate any help on this and thank you.

spouse visa I believe you'll have to apply for a spouse visa from the country in Europe you are planning to move to. The UK embassy in Bogota issues a spouse visa the same day you apply for it! For the US, on the other hand, its an arduous 6 month process to get a spouse visa.

Big problem for me though is that my country does not have a spouse visa,, just student or tourist and thats the reason for my post. I just dont know what to do.

Lovethissite, I dont know what country you are from, but this how it is done in Norway. I guess it is the same process for all countries which participate in the Schengen cooperation (which is most of the countries in western Europe):

1. After marriage your wife applies for a so-called D-Visa. This is 7-days Visa made with the purpose of rapid processing, and will close to always be granted in a wife/husband situation. You should be able to receive this Visa withing 4-5 weeks.

2. She have to report to the police within 1 week after arriving at your country.

3. Apply for å permanent residential Visa when she arrives at your country. I guess this application will take 7-9 months to process.
