Anyone have a good idea for a fun reception in Medellin. My wife and I were married here in the US in June but want a wedding in front of her family in Medellin. It would be small only about 60 people. She was thinking the Dann Carleton but my budget is only about $10,000. Any other suggestion that I can look into. I would have about 15 people from the US coming down who have never been to Colombia. So I wanted them to experience Colombia's fun lifestyle.

calif en la selva says on Aug 25, 2005, 13:38: Fizebad We got married in May and she arranged for everthing. There's a Hacienda outside Rio Negro going to El Retiro called "Fizebad" I would recommend this over any 5 star hotel. We had about 50 people and you and your wife will go there about a week before the wedding and choose what will be served for dinner...they have like 3 options and you sample each one and choose the best of # 1 and a part of # 2 and something off of # 3, that way it's tailored to your taste. They have a horse and carriage that she arrives in for the wedding, and after the wedding the Choffer (Top Hat, white gloves and tails) takes you and your new wife out for a ride, then return for pictures, then reception then dinner and dancing. We had a band. She arranged all the flowers (including flowers on the carriage) it went from 4pm until 1am. It included the luna de meil and first aniversary night back there. This was very elegant, it's in a outdoor setting by the lake (pond with ducks)and dinner / rcpetion is on a covered patio. There is a Muesuem for the guests to go into. This is a very old historic place ( I think the govenor of Antioquia from the 1800'S)

Fizebad was owned by Everfit, a suit company (they had the sheep in Fizebad). This would be a wonderful place for a wedding. The Intercontinental Hotel is another but far less romantic option.

jaramillo says on Aug 26, 2005, 09:11: Las Lomas If the wedding goes into the night you might not want to have to drive back to Medellín. A good, close by option to spend the night would be the Hotel Las Lomas, near the José María Córdova airport.
