Getting married in Colombia... or go thru the K-1 process?

I have been communicating with a lovely Colombiana from Cali for about 2 years now. We have decided to be together and dicussed our options on getting her to the US. She is under the impression that when I go there in December 2005, it would be easier if we married in Cali and she would apply for a K-3 visa... instead of going thru the process of getting a K-1 visa.

Any suggestions or advice?
