i have a question in regards of gettting married here in Colombia. i am an american and colombian citizen, i have the double nationality....i am planning on getting married with my wife soon so we can go to the states hopefully as soon as possible...i am planning on taking the route of the K-3 visa and the 1st step is to get married. the thing is that she has a daughter, and i heard that if i get married with her in a notary i have to pay 500.000 pesos. is that true? my girl told me that cuz the father of the daughter was going to get married the other day but he couldnt cuz he couldnt afford it...i dont know, does anyone know about this?
the next question is whats my best option, after reading some posts i dont know whats the best option for us to go to the states. we are living together here in cali, and im not going to leave back to the states for the paperwork and processing time...i have been here for a year and a half now and am situated with work and everything. i am thinking the K-3 visa but i know theres another called the Direct Consular Filling for both of us living outside the USA. and i heard its faster for us, but remember she has a daughter and the objective is for us 3 to get the USA as soon as possible....maybe an option will be for me and my wife to go and then request her daughter but we are trying to avoid that....
if anyone has any advice or help i would really appriciate it...thanks...

Gator says on Oct 8, 2007, 14:43: Try a different notary., those charges are not fixed by decree.. If you are a LEGAL resident of Colombia you would be eligible for DCF the daughter can be added as part of the DCF filing. First step contact the Embassy to make SURE you can go DCF.
