Gay Colombian to the USA

I live in the USA and I want to bring my gay Colombian lover here to live with me, but it is hard for Colombians to get visas to here. I want to marry him so he can stay legally with me, but if he cannot get a visa to come here to get married and Colombia does not permit gay marriages it will never happen. So I was looking at other alternatives that maybe we can go to a country that permits gay unions then there we can get married and after I can file with the immigration so that he can come. So far I see that Spain and I believe Uruguay too does not require a visa for Colombians to visit. Help! What to do? What is the easiest way? I really love this guy. He says he wants to leave Colombia, life is not easy... well at lease for him!

#1, You can't be legally married in the eyes of the USCIS. Forget what is going on in the state of California. If you somehow find a way to get him into a country like Holland, get married, the marriage won't be recognized in a number of countries, including the US.

Spain does require a visa for Colombians to vist. Check out their consulate website for requirements. The requirements are quite extensive and strict. I just looked at the visa requirements this morning, as my wife was tossing about the idea of visiting family there. The prerequisites for a visa to Spain (and other European countries) are a major pain, and difficult enough that I can safely say we will not be visiting any time soon.

I have a friend in the exact same situation in Calif.
The way they did it (he was doing an MBA at the time) he went to work for his company and latter applied for residency through his significant other company.
Other than that... though call...

Here it comes.....it is hard enough to know what a fake marriage is when someone in Colombia just marries to get the visa and this gay thing is gonna just complicate things even worse for embassy personnel and the federal government

As the GAY activists continue to dumb down our American society then someday a legal US citizen gay will be able to obtain a F-129 just like a heterosexual couple.

It is what it is like it or not.....

PS why can't I have 3 female Colombian wives...? I would like the tax deductions for sure.

It doesn't matter what the states say it is what the federal government says. . Currently the federal government does not recognize same-sex marriage, under the Defense of Marriage Act, but same-sex marriage is currently recognized on the state level by two states, California and Massachusetts. Your only option might be one of you have sex change, flip a coin or something.

Thanks for the advice but none of us are under going a sex change... also I am confused... I heard the Rode Island, New York, and New Mexico recognise foreign gay marriages, so what does that mean? Because I am also hearing that gay marriages is not recognised at Federal level. I was thinking maybe I need to get a female friend to go down to Colombia, marry him then to go through the immigration process, it sounds like the easiest way.

I'll give you a good example. Under California law you can purchase medical marijuana with a note from a doctor, not hard to get. However, it is still illegal under federal law and you can be arrested and charged. While a state might recognize the marriage, the government will not, and will not issue a visa to the spouse.

Exactly...also, as far as I was told, only Mass and Calif for now, but I am not in the trenches on this one.

So maybe you would need to go to Europa and go from there....lots of footwork, eh?
