Gaviotas--has anyone heard of this city

Greetings!

I read a book a while back..about Gaviotas: The City That Will Reinvent This World. I will be in Colombia for a month and really want to see this city. But i don't know if it still exsists. Does anyone out there know about this city? If so..is it safe to go there?

Does anyone know about any environmental or sustainable or permaculture places in Colombia that I could visit?

Thanks!!!

Gaviotas I remember reading that Gaviotas was still doing well and was equally respected by both guerilla and paras for their unquestioning and humane treatment of the wounded from either side.

I also read that b/c of the conflict, they are not currently accepting international visitors.

I think the guy who set up gaviotas is currently working with other countries to duplicate this effort. You might want to investigate that! Good luck!

environmetal and sustanaible programs in Colombia Hi

You may want to contact Colombian NGO's that work on environmental issues. Here are some links for you.

I am a Colombian Biologist living in USA if you are interested I can get some of my colleagues down in Colombia to help you. My sister is an Anthropologist working at the "Instituto Von Humboldt" in Villa de Leyva. She leads a program that may be interesting for you.
