Garmin World Maps V4

has anyone tried this?? How well does it reflect Medellin?? Garmin tell me it has the city of Medellin and lacks the driving/mapping information outside of town but I was curious if anyone has played with this..

I tried to get gps software for my pda, and was told this is not yet available for Colombia.

I brought a Garmin handheld GPS there earlier this month and it only had basic maps for Medellin. It was cool in that it would tell me the altitude everywhere and airspeed and maps from the airplain. The roads are all referred to by number in Medellin, highway 25 for example South for rio sur, etc. Sure enough on the road I did see a 25 but nobody knew what highway 25 is/was..

I think the maps are pretty good on Google maps -- but Google Earth for example. changes the resolution of the photos once you get south of Medellin into Envigado and its pretty much impossible to use this content for navigation.

Anyhow, on buy.com they had a special and I ordered the World Maps and will load it into my GPS when I return in early October.

Speaking of buy.com, they automatically cancel all orders placed from an IP address outside of the states. I wanted to ship the product to my house and paid with a US credit card and was hosed each and every time. I eventually VPNed back into my house and sure enough the transaction when through on the first time..

larryrn keep us posted on any updates on the Garmin. I also have Garmin but have not purchased the World Map update as I do not think it would include much in Colombia. However if they have maps of Medellin I really want to buy.
