* i've seen some ridiculous rates recently by a whole new slew of players getting into the apartments for rent game.

hmmm. approx. $2k per month for 3 tenants. that is around 200% profit minus initial furnishing investment. who is paying these rates?

- 20% is a standard "add on" fee when an agency is involved. therefore, an owner wanting $600 per month would have a third party upsell to $720 per month - not $1800 per month.

- it is not isolated. i have been seeing it everywhere lately.....

- i cannot rent my house back in the states for that price!

I do not live in Medellin at the moment but will be coming down soon for 3 weeks to look for a place to retire next year. I know of a good company that rents apartments, Don't know how long you need the Apartment for but here is the link

best way is to get here first, get a hostal or cheap hotel, then find the apartment. local agencies tend to have prices about 2-300% cheaper..... for some reason or another...
