Full Time teacher needed in Bucaramanga

Anyone, looking for a full time teaching position in Bucaramanga? I currently work at a private school and they are looking for a new teacher to replace a European that walked out on the job. Send me an email if you might be interested and I can give you more details. The salary is confortable but nothing fantastic. I work there because the people are nice to work with and I love teaching. They also helped me change "hogar" on my visa to "docente" which I understand many places don't like to bother with. The hours are 7am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

I'm not sure if there will be some rearranging depending on what teacher comes along but the European was teaching 6th-9th graders. His subjects were Language Arts, Science, and English classes. Not sure which subjects for which grade levels.

Do they usually have summer school teachers from outside Colombia who come in and teach for a few weeks or teachersr teaching Americans abroad?

I guess I should specify that all the subjects I mentioned above are taught in English. It is a school that is bilingual.

I am finishing up to become a social studies teacher in the US. Someday I love to come to Colombia for a few weeks to teach a class...

Why did the previous teacher walk out?

I assume you need someone ASAP... which I couldn't do (unless I walk out on my own job).

But I'm still curious: I'm sure you're not able to comment on the salary, but can you describe what kind of basic lifestyle the pay would allow... i.e. go dining and dancing every night, and still put away enough for your kids tuition at Yale... or... ride the bus, eat rice and beans and work 'till you die.

I will take a stab at this not knowing the exact school...I would have to guess 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 per month

Hmm... less than a grand a month, I'm guessing rent would run $300-$400/month for a decent (livable) place, and after all the other necessities, you might be left over with a $50-$100/week for non-essentials and savings... Ouch.

I don´t know of any elementary or secondary schools in Bucaramanga that pay as much as Vic mentioned....well maybe Pan Amercian. In otherwords, the salary is less than he stated, as far as I know. I live with my husband so we have two incomes but I still save plenty every month living in our own apartment in Strato 4.
