Full 80´s Bar

So, last night I met up with my cousin and went to Full 80´s bar in Bogota.... OMG... We had soooo much fun.... It was like being at an 80´s club in L.A., well almost... Except that we get to buy the bottle or 3.... I lost track.... But, I did get a kick out of some of the videos... They were playing the soundtrack to AutoMan... I never watched AutoMan in the states as a kid, and everyone was shocked..... I don´t ever recall it even playing....

But, everyone was wonderful... The owner of the bar is a great guy.... We had a blast.... We danced all night, I don´t even remember getting home!....It was great just enjoying a night out.....

No darling... I´m really annoyed with the way they do things here.... Apparently, my appointment yesterday was for the consultation and exams... They can´t do the lasik the same day, because my eyes are dialated... Which makes sense, but they should have told me all of this when I made my appointment so that my travel plans could have been adjusted accordingly... So.... I´m going to have lasik done on Tuesday for sure!!!... So, this afternoon we head out to Pereira, and I´ll have to return on Monday night... Crazy!!!!... Pero a si son las cosas... Glad I don´t have to worry about hotels or anything like that... I´d be really annoyed....

China we had sooo much fun... Es que mi prima si rumbea....

Mija es que en Colombia la rumba es brava! A sudar se dijo...

So you're back in Bogota for the lasik on Tuesday, it's still a bit of a pain to have to go back and forth like that. I am so envious, you're off to Pereira, are you going to rumbear there too en la trasnochadora y morena? Silly question really......

Hey MS.....that is usually how it is done in the US. One appointment for consultation. The next appointment for the surgery. At least you were then able to have a good Friday night. Sounds like fun!

I spent Friday night at a restaurant eating in complete darkness.....and no it wasn`t in Colombia when the electricity goes out! jajaja......this place has blind waitresses and while they are very comfortable walking around and serving you, you cannot see anything. It was my second visit. We had 3 guys join us on our table and we proceeded to eat, drink and laugh so much that the next thing we knew it was 11 pm. Imagine having conversations with total strangers and you have no idea what they look like.....it sort of sounds like PBH! jajaja!

msaucey says on Sep 22, 2007, 11:42:

En Pereira, se vive para rumbiar.... hee-hee-hee... Bueno, espero que si, pero mañana en la mañana vamos a los termales de San Vicente...

I´m telling you, my schedule is crazy!!!! But, I´m sure that I can convince my friends and cousins to go out, they´ll have to force themselves!... hee-hee-hee

Chao for now... Have to pack and get ready to leave... We´re dropping off my uncle at the airport, since he´s off to Valledupar....

I have a friend going to Bogota in December...I told him to visit the Full 80's bar...That's his generation. Even if you're not from the 80's, you have to admit the music was pretty cool...I'd go there if were in Bogota...

I was going to go to full 80 but when i got there the queue to get in was huge so we decided to go somewhere else, i think it is very popular...

The full eighties bar. . .awesome. I don´t like noisy places in regular bases, but. . . i sing along with a few unknown guys "the power of love", and the central theme from "baretta" (made by the legendary Sammy Davies Jr.) and some of them even remenber the michael j. Fox movies. And we ended with my girlfriend taking about eighties stuff with a bunch of strangers. . .
I even thinking going back. . .

. . .shame on me.

Alot of the late 80's music was kool. Punk, New wave, Industrial, etc. Except for the buggle-gum girl crap. I hope they dont change formats and include the horrendous sounds of the boy band genre of the 90's....YUCK!!!

No wonder I like to spin bleep music!

I agree with GIB. IMO the only time worth going is on Thursdays when they actually have a live band, a GOOD one worth seeing.

There is a similar 80s bar in Cartagena next to Mister Babilla. Even there, they seemed to be playing a remix of ¨Ice Ice Baby¨ a lot, mixing in other classic lines from other songs (Cruising! In my 5.0! With my hair slicked back and my top down low!)

TBH most of my friends in Bogota think Full 80s sucks too. At any rate if you went once, you want 1000 times because its the SAME people in there. You can walk like 2 blocks in three directions and hit a better place. The Brazilian place a block down from it has live Brazilian music on certain days.

hEY GIB, Not even a good ass whopping worked jejejejej
When you visit Colombia most relatives wanna impress your ass by taking you to the most gringo chit they could find. With me, they learned very quickly.
There was this modefoque visiting from Curramba so I took him out to my favorite Mexican restaurant in NYC. When I saw him a couple years later in Barranquilla he invited me to the “best pizza joint in North curramba.
Let me tell, you it was the worst piece of chit I’ve ever tasted. When we dropped him off at his place in el paraiso, I had the taxi take my black ass straight to eat chicharron in Murrillo. Anyways, word got OUT now I’m concidered the most ungrateful Indian, no class modefouqe and will never change no matter how long I lived NYC.
In Colombian when you wanna really insult a modefoqeu you always call him Indio resentio, well they called me that plus a couple other things like drogadicto.
Anyways, now I don’t get invited to dinners, weddings, birthdays, family gathering, no more pizza en el norte,no nothing.
Not that I would go, but they’ve denied me the pleasure of saying NO! Those modefoques!!!

Rubito says on Sep 24, 2007, 09:44:

You know speaking of that, wtf is the deal with Pollo Broaster in Colombia? It's absolutely EVERYWHERE in Bogota. I thought it was just a way of describing fried chicken, but technically the Broaster thing is a trademark and broasted chicken is a cross between fried and pressure cooked?? or something like that?? What's the deal, is it really just fried chicken and the name of the trademark caught on whether the chicken is really technically broasted or not? Or are they all actually broasting itin officially sanctioned broasting equipment and I never paid attention?

Sorry but I have to disagree with this comment, last summer when I went to mi pueblo lindo, on my first night there, my cousin and freinds decided to take me a nice spot in the middle of no where name el zucie (dont ask me what that mean no one is named zucie in the whole town) anyway it was about 10 of us and we all had to get there in mototaxi which cost us each about 2000 mil barras. we went to the "VIP" section which is an little aircondition room which we had to share with some other fokers we did not know. anyways I had blast dancing con una morenita, listening to Los Zuletas,Diomedez, Silvestre etc....

elmodefoque says on Sep 24, 2007, 10:01:

polo, that thar "el suzie" is what i like to do. while in colombia i wanna do the colombian thing.
The only chit i don;'t like to do is go to a fokin FINCA.
why would i wanna go in the fokin jugle of mountains to hang out with only family members unless you got a hot cousin you wanna screw, otherwise family finca trips are not for me for that i rather go to that 80's vaina

If GIB says the bar sucks, then it must suck.
GIB is one of the few that tells it like it is, GIB can articulate the Colombian culture better then most.
Classic examples: a date ordering, without asking, a pizza to go for her family, or even beter stopping everyday a buying a sandwhich at the corner shop and giving the owner a tip each time for a year, then one day GIB is short a few coins (200-300 pesos), and the owner insist for his money.
Also pointing out crime does happen, and no cop will bail you out.

As far as an 80s bar, the classic music video 80s is a popular genre, 80s music is popular in Colombia and still in the US.

msaucey says on Oct 2, 2007, 14:30:

Hey... I haven't had a chance to check this post... But, I guess, my experience at Full 80's was different, because I went there to have fun with my cousin and some friends.... and GIB, you probably haven't been there in a while, but they have expanded the bar... So, it's like twice the whole in the wall then it used to be.... but, I liked it for a few reasons.... 1... I had fun with my cousin and friends, which is important... 2... I loved watching the 80's videos, I'm from Hollywood, CA, so I used to go to 80's clubs in Hollywood and Los Feliz and they never had videos, just music... and since I didn't appreciate the 80's music since I was so young, I do appreciate it now that I'm older..... And I never watched 80's videos, which is why I think this was fun and funny to watch all the girls trying to do the moves on the video... Yes, if I were to compare the actual 80's music between Bogota and L.A., L.A. will win, but the ambiance is different and the music is what we would consider the throw back music that is still 80's.... i.e. in L.A. we may listen to more Cure and Blondie, where in Bogota, they played Vanilla Ice... It's just a relevant experience and I did have a good time.... and everyone at the bar was sincerely enjoying themselves, which is the purpose of going out in the first place, no?....

And, don't worry, I did do the Colombian Music Salsa experience in Pereira.... and my feet and legs are still sore!!!

So, don't come down on me tooo hard.... What can I say, I had a good time!!!! And I do see a lot of brazilian bands here in L.A. and when I'm in Chicago... So, my genre is mixed...

Portena, thanks for the wishes on the Lasik... Everything was perfect, and my vision is now 20/20....
