Fuel and ticket prices

Ok, guys, here's the dilemma. I want to buy my ticket to colombia but gas prices are driving the cost of the tickets up. Do we anticipate gas prices (and ticket prices) dropping again or should I buy now and pay more than I would have last week but less than I will in the future? What are your thoughts?

summertime has alot to do with that as well. it has done the same thing for the last several years in a row. i had to pay $1600 for a r/t from Dallas to Medellin last year with 4 weeks notice last June.

* i recently got a r/t ticket in March from Seattle to Medellin for $900.

Ugh... I saw a ticket for $490 before taxes last Monday. Today it was $568. I think I should get it now before it gets worse...

Dude, anytime you see $490 GRAB IT! I'd still take $568 as quick as I could, that's a pretty good price. I paid $650 in January for Seattle to Baranquilla. The only real cheap tickets are the ones from MIA to BAQ, and I think they have been more lately too.

dude go to avianca.com. i'm flying New York to Medellin for 535.00US all taxes included. cheap cheap cheap. They have that price for all the major cities from New York and back. Also from Miami, probably cheaper.

But he's flying from DFW ...so he should fly to NY or MIA first? I don't think so. That's just one of the benefits of living in NY or MIA, cheaper tix to Colombia.

Thanks... Thanks but avianca does not show any flights departing from DFW. All the flights to Colombia from DFW stop in MIA, ATL, or, my favorite, MEX. I have a fellow teacher who just got certified as a travel agent and I'll check with her tomorrow about a cheaper fare. I don't know how much cheaper it will be but anything cheaper is good for me...

Yeah, but.. when you add the $180.20 taxes, you get a total of $693.20. That's what I'm trying to AVOID paying!!! Thanks anyway, dude...

I'd buy it now. Oil isn't going down anymore and won't return to todays price anytime soon. Word is that Jimmy Carter will soon be in London to advise Blair on how to handle a hostage crisis.

BUY NOW Captain howdy if you are travelling in April. Prices seemed to have hit their lowest last week, that's when i bought my tickets for April's end, now they've gone up 50$, same flight/route. They'll just continue to go up, unless you get lucky.

BOUGHT NOW Will be in Bogota from 26 Apr. - 7 May via Panama first and just bought my tickets. Prices had even went up on Copa from $667ish to $747 since I last looked last month so went ahead and bought AA RT from MIA to PTY and BOG to MIA for $522 then Copa PTY to BOG for $261.

Fuel prices have stabilized and not any higher than last year. Think the Colombia ticket price increases are a reflection of how well the Country is doing now and the increased demand for tickets there.

If anyone is interested in going to the CR Spirit Air will soon fly into San Jose cheap cheap ($260 range) from FLL. This had made the AA seats go down as well. Competition really is working on that route. Think AA, Avianca and Copa have some "arrangements" on the CO market though.
