World Cup Hero says on Feb 24, 2005, 12:09: Tough night in the making for Colombia Sorry to say that the USA is 11th in the FIFA World Rankings and nobody cares about soccer in the USA. I wish people outside the USA could at least admit that the USA is making progress. There are a lot of "soccer crazy" countries that would kill for a ranking of 11. We made it to the quarter finals of the last World Cup and got a no-call from a European ref on an obvious handball in the box against Germany. We cannot get a break with any refs, especially Central American refs but it does not matter because we usually come out on top..."Hey the USA has easy qualifying"...yes that is true but we cannot help where we are located, and obviously we do a pretty good job at preparation...just ask Portugal after 17 minutes of the first game we played in the last world cup when we were up 3-0.

kikiortiz11 says on Feb 24, 2005, 14:17: USA SOCCER Although yes I also admit that they have made an improvement in the past years, they do not deserve the ranking that they hold, 11th in the world. They qualify to the world cups without even a decent challenge. Their only challenge in the concacaf is Mexico who every year seems to weaken more and more. I hope to see Colombia show the world that USA does not belong in the 11th spot. For me they should be around 25-35 spot. Colombia at least should be in top twenty. My prediction for the match between Colombia and USA is 2-0 Colombian victory. Kiki Ortiz-Matallana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

kernow62 says on Feb 24, 2005, 14:26: The US ranking is not taken seriously outside of its region, they aren't a bad team, but there are a heck of a lot better teams that are ranked below them. They get better every year though. It is fun to go to a match but I can't really seem to get involved the way I did back in the UK.

World Cup Hero says on Feb 24, 2005, 16:59: USA Fellas...I hate to tell you but all of your opinions were already addressed in my opening. US players are making headway in top European Leagues (England, Holland and Germany) and Colombian Soccer is still fighting for legitimacy. Take for example the U-20's, yes that was a great win, but stop acting like it is a major tournament. Argentina and Brazil kept some of their younger players out. We really should not be arguing. All of us are soccer fans and we are happy that the sport even grows in popularity, but I sense a bit of resentment with the fact that the world wants to see us fail. Granted we have a crazy president, but do not take it out on our National Team.

Miguel says on Feb 24, 2005, 20:59: Pienso... That if Rodallega stays away from those California blondes and gets a good night's rest, Colombia will kick major US ass in this match! Whatever the outcome, it's good to see the US improving and it will be fun to watch this very good Colombian team.

Miguel says on Feb 25, 2005, 14:27: CO X I will the first to admit my ignorance about the structure of the leagues in Latin America. While I have always liked futbol from a distance, I fell in love with it in Colombia. So Rodallega plays for a team other than the senior national team...what are they called? That goalie on his team was great along with a dude named Renteria. Even with my uneducated futbol eye, I know Hugo is special.
