ColombianoGringo says on Jul 20, 2008, 19:37: Man. Carlos is getting fat. With that bandanna on, he looked like Rosie O'Donnell.

Plato says on Jul 21, 2008, 02:18: ColombianGringo - I thought the same thing! Wow! Carlos better start eating more salads. His face was . . . . . .big! Mononoke28 says on Jul 21, 2008, 08:29: Thanks for the videos! I tried to catch it on CNN en español but they kept cutting the feed. I'm glad Shakira finally did something like this for Colombia, too bad she still sings like a motorcycle running in the wrong gear. Carlos Vives, great as always but those damn sking tight jeans were DREADFUL!!!! Diana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
Monpirri says on Jul 21, 2008, 08:58: Mononoke, you need to change your tune and I guess you consider yourself better qualify to sing than Shakira. Annette Taddeo for US Congress 2008 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
ColombianoGringo says on Jul 21, 2008, 10:11: Oh Monpi relax man. Honestly, I thought the concert sounded pretty bad, but I attributed it to technical difficulties. Carlos Vives didn't sound too good either and he normally sounds great. It seemed like he couldn't hear himself. What can you do? I'm sure that putting on a huge concert in the Amazon is not the easiest feat.

Monpirri says on Jul 21, 2008, 10:48: CG the thread it's about two Colombian musicians who are joined by two presidents from South America, in Leticia, Amazonas, COLOMBIA RE: Colombian Peace!. Annette Taddeo for US Congress 2008 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
ColombianoGringo says on Jul 21, 2008, 10:57: Oh please. It's just a concert. Honestly, they both sounded bad. Shakira's ballad that I heard sounded horrible as most of her whiny ballads do. I much prefer her "movidas". Carlos Vives is one of my all time favorite artists and I admire him greatly, but he didn't sound good yesterday. It happens. Not everyone can be perfect every time.

Monpirri says on Jul 21, 2008, 11:13: CG, you see how you changed your story now? Now you have posted comments exhibiting your expertise "in the music and concert industry." but initially you stopped by to talk about Carlos Vives' face. Annette Taddeo for US Congress 2008 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
ColombianoGringo says on Jul 21, 2008, 11:20: My point is that this concert and its participants are not sacred cows that can't be commented about in jest. My first thought when I saw the concert yesterday is that Carlos Vives looked like Rosie O'Donnell. I though it was funny, so I posted it. They are nothing more than entertainers. I don't see why you're getting worked up about it.

Mononoke28 says on Jul 21, 2008, 13:15: I don't share your taste in music. So just because you love Shakira, I'm supposed to say "oh my goshhhhhhhhhhh she was so amazing! she was lovely, I looooooooooooooove her, she's the best thing that's come out of Colombia since arepa con morcilla." Annette Taddeo for US Congress 2008 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
ColombianoGringo says on Jul 21, 2008, 16:26: Huy si. Tener la audacia de burlarse de un cantante quiere decir que uno es anti-Colombia. Tiene razón. Solo nos hacemos los que nos gusta una que otra cosa de Colombia para aparentar.

ColombianoGringo says on Jul 22, 2008, 10:08: I agree that Juanes did sound better. Still, I think a lot of it has to do with the equipment and sound mixing. I'm sure it is a lot easier to put on a concert in Paris than in the Amazon.
