taxis in Cali I used to travel into the city a lot in taxy system. As expatriate
said,it's easy and safest. However I would recommend this:

1. Preferable, call from the airport to radio taxis. here the phone numbers:

444-4444
244-4444
555-5555

If you have a cell phone, dial in this way(once in Cali):
032-444-4444 , same with any phone in Cali.

2. Once you have called asking for a taxy service, request to be informed about the NUMBER OF A MOVIL(TAXY) that is going to take you and if possible, the name of the driver.

3. After get into the taxi, be sure that the number of a movil (taxy) is the same that is posted in the taxy car you have in front. (the number is posted out side the cab, close to the back door) .

4.If you like to hire a taxi driver from the same airport,ask the airline attendant to request one for you, or have clear direccions to abord one in a safely way.

5. The cost depends of how far you go into the city, but 25-30 USD works for airport-north Cali. No more than 40

6. I have a list of my favorite taxy drivers...if you just need it.

Personally... I would take one of the mini-buses (colectivo) from the airport to the main terminal downtown, then get a cab from there to your final destination. One hell-of-a-lot cheaper and safe. Say 2500/3000 pesos as opposed to $57.000 +- pesos for a taxi. Just out the front door after you arrive internationally and there will be a bunch of them happy to accommodate you.

What hotel are you staying at? Some like the Intercontinental Hotel have drivers that will pick you up. If it is you first time take a taxi not a bus especially at that time.
