Friendly advice

Does every house in Colombia have a problem with a leaking roof? I swear that everytime it rains and I am over somebody's house, it seems like they have a leak. Not just leaks but there are all kinds of structural problems that seem to be linked to the houses here in Cali for example, the cheap concrete that is used which seems to crack everytime there is any sort of minor earthquake. The plumbing is horrible in alot of houses and don't even think that your roof is uninhabited by termites. I have to pay approximately 50 million to repair and retrofit the house I am in now. If any of you do plan on buying property, please get yourself an oppinion by a city liscensed engineer that can inspect your home and let you know whether you could be getting yourself into a money pit. Trust me.

Mine doesn't Arthur, not any longer. It cost me only around 5 million to repair it, have new beams and all woodwork replaced. Not a drop of rain comes in. For 50 million you can buy a another house in San Antonio, if that's still where you're living. If you need help with roofing problems or finding a new place to live contact Adela.

sorry for the mix-up I thought you were Arthur Brode.

Anyway, it shouldn't cost you 50 million for the job you described. The roof would cost about 10 million, the foundation, new pipes and new floor anything between 15 to 25 million depending on the quality of materials you'd be using. I've had the estimate done by my workers in Cali since that's the next job I'll be doing to the house minus the foundation.

My roof doesn't leak but the master craftsman was an indigena who lives near me in Cauca. Never went beyond third grade in primary school but sure knows how to build houses and roofs that don't leak! (and it rains hard in Cauca -- aguaceros!)plátano

Cali is full of unemplyed construction workers You don't need an engineer for the job. A good maestro de obras cantake care of that, or a contractor.
I can't give any names or contact info offhand, but ask around.
Adela, are you reading this?

I do not know about Cauca but Bogota apartments are really awful with regards to this. I have moved to avoid damp apartments that leak when it rains and all I get is more of the same. And people just shrug it off like it is normal. Are there normal weather proof building in Bogota, that do not leak duriong so called AGUACEROS?
