Friend coming to U.S.

My friend will be going to Miami on a tourist visa. Is she required to have any certain amount of money with her when she enters?

I Think The Confusion... about the money is NOT when entering-there is no requirement when on a tourist visa-but rather when the individual APPLIES for the visa at the embassy. If the individual is unable to overcome the PRESUMPTION that he/she is intending to immigrate illegally to the United States by showing strong financial ties to Colombia, NO VISA. One other thing-we had friends that had a little hassle in Miami when they could not provide, of all things, the zip code of the address(s) where they would be staying.

Hey GIB, Maybe you're thinkinking of Panama Middle daughter (Colombiana) goes to school in Panama and at entry they always ask to see $500. When I go they ask me the same and I just show a couple of VISA card and they are OK with that.

When we applied for a Visa to Mexico they required that my girlfriend have a credit card in her name. Other countries...... it is always some hoops to jump through.

Costa Rica didn't the last time I went there which was in Oct. 2004 - and no one asked me anything. My friends went there in September 2005 and they didn't mention this either. Is this a new requirement?
