An Awful Place... had to fly Air France from MIA to Rochambeau Airport at Cayenne. This was some years ago. I was there for THREE days and it was the only place I have ever been that I could not wait to get out of. Hot as hell and I really expected Humphrey Bogart to wander into the hotel bar. I swear to God the only thing to do was count the number of times the dead dog in fron of the "hotel" was run over. He was in the same spot for three days.

Jonestown was two Guyanas over, in plain and formerly British Guyana, which is next door to Suriname formerly Dutch Guyana, which is next door to French Guyana, where you will find Devil's Island off the coast. I personally would never want to go to any of these Guyanas even if you paid me.

Hey Pepster, thanks for telling me about colombianblog, it's a good site. But the people that committed suicide went to Guyana (British Guyana) [my parents happen to be from there so I remember that one well]. I'm just curious about French Guyana b/c of the language and the fact that no one hears much about it! I'll check out that website, thanks for that Lionheart.
