Former Police Officers Behind Padrón Kidnapping in Panama

Padrón was kidnapped on 4 April 2008 in Costa del Este and released on 23 February 2009 after paying a ransom.

El secuestro del empresario cubano-estadounidense Cecilio Padrón fue planeado en Panamá por grupos ligados a la guerrilla colombiana y ex integrantes de los estamentos de seguridad nacional, según las investigaciones del Ministerio Público.

Por este caso, la Fiscalía Decimocuarta de circuito solicitó que se llame a juicio a tres agentes de la policía, un ex PTJ, y tres civiles, entre ellos el colombiano Luis Orobio Lobón, considerado como un contacto de las FARC en Centroamérica.

Padrón fue secuestrado el 4 de abril de 2008, en Costa del Este, y liberado el 23 de febrero de 2009 tras pagar un rescate.
