I'm sure a well read colombian would not have a clue about this Colombian writer...Anyway I wanted to bring him to the fore front and hopefully the colombian community would appreciate an "inconnu" writer...Again, its goes to show u that an education can bring you a long way regardless of skin color. Too bad alot of his people are not given an opportunity to excel and maybe become the next Gabo...

The publisher, in Bogotá, was the Centro para la Investigación de la Cultura Negra. The book consists of papers presented at the 5th Seminario sobre Formación y Capacitación de Personal Docente en Cultura Negra, Mompós, Colombia and includes Obeso's Cantos Populares de Mi Tierra.

platano says on May 17, 2005, 07:15: Qubo, I haven't read even 1% of what has been written by good Colombian authors. And half of what I have read I have already forgotten due to my aging brain! Gotta run to work (damn gringos don't understand lateness)... will get back to you on Carreño.

platano says on May 17, 2005, 12:08: Forget about Carreño! Just checked about buying a copy and in the USA it costs US$125.00! I got it for US$10 in Bogota at the Libreria Panamericana. Borrow it from someone or from a library. It is good but not worth US$125.00 (that is for the Editorial Patria edition)
