I am not sure if my information is correct, but I heard many times that it is almost impossible for a Colombiana with children to find a Colombian man willing to marry her. So they search for a gringo, who very often will accept a woman with children and then giving her and her children a new chance in life.

Not true. My thirtysomething cousin in Cali, who's a single mom, recently married a colombian man. And no, he's not rich either.

Cali Women My boyfriend used to feel like Robert here in Bogotá, until I took him to Cali, and he was blown away! I'd say girls in Cali are more exotic and of course the dress code factor plays a big part in it all: we wear little when in Cali, it's so hot there :P And I'm not just saying that cos I am from Cali ;) He actually got used to the bogotanas beauty as it is, bland he would call it. I would agree that it is not impossible for a Colombiana with children to find a Colombian man to marry her but it is extremely difficult. There is the example of my wife as well as many other attractive widows in Medellin that I know who have pretty much resigned themselves to being alone for the rest of their lives. To be sure every now and again one of them gets lucky but it very seldom happens. Most of the gringoes that I communicate with have married single mothers and they all tell the same story. Not blaming the Colombian men - it's just too difficult financially to marry a woman who has already had children.

Paisita, I wish I could tell you that I was born in a big Colombian city to well to do family, that I walk around in little business suits, well educated professional and was the typical Uribe, white colombianito. I’m not! I was born in a village a day and a half walk from Rioacha (not quite a big city) in the northern Colombian coast next to goats and donkey very similar to that scene Christians depict for the birth of Jesus. My grandfather was Cogi from la Ciudad Perdida where I spent some time trying to accumulate enough goats so when I reach 12, I could marry and actually have sex with a real female and not donkies. My grandmother was Wayuu or Guajiro and my dad half Colombian and Arab. I consider myself Guajiro, that’s what I was called by barranquilleros. My father moved us to El Barrio Abajo, Barranquilla when I was 5 and where I sold butifarras to the age of 9. I went to school briefly until I got accused by teachers of getting them and all students infected with head lice. They threw me out. My father came into lots of money and then we moved to a beautiful home in the northern part of Barranquill with 3 real flushing toilets. I’m embarrassed to say but I was nearly ten when I took my first dump like a human being and was fascinated to see my crap circling down before actually disappearing in front of my eyes. I was used to kicking sand on top of it and hoped not to step on it later on. Just a few months after moving into that big beautiful home my father and brothers and I were threaten by member of my clan, with a decapitation. They were not too happy with my father ripping them off, that’s when he got us outta Colombia and we ended up in NYC, in the late sixties. I heard that I’m not longer in danger of losing my head that all I’m getting is a Colombian neck tie. That’s when they cut your throat horizontally, reach in and pull your tongue out. Guajiros have a great sense of humor.
