For the Cartagena experts....

Any info on Hotel Playa? http://www.hotelplayactg.com/home.htm

Found a decent rate on them for Christmas/New Years at $72.00 a night....

Good, bad, ugly???

If this is the hotel I'm thinking of, I've stayed there and it's pretty nice. The one I am thinking of is in Laguito, near the very end of the street, between El Conquistidor and the Hilton. It's clean, with a small pool in a patio area in the back. There is a picture on the hotel's website that seems to show the Hilton in the background of the pool area. It this is the same hotel, take the room.

I liked this place when I took a tour back in Feb. Rooms were clean and comfortable looking and staff friendly. I toured all kinds of places down there and was impressed with value for the money.

The rooms do open I believe to an open air breezeway which I thought was nice.

I would ask to pay in COP with today's excellent rate. Maybe they haven't updated dollars!

It's a good price. The place is IMHO crappy all year long. Cartagena gets really crowded after new years. The week before it's incredibly slow.

Thanks for the input... It is the best rate I could find in town for those days, and I think I'll try it out if I definitely make the trip!

LORE,

Probably 2 weeks before New Year is slow compared with New Year/Christmas.

Just before Christmas, a few days or so, things start to pick up.
