For Sale: Frequent Flyer miles

I have lots of extra frequent flyer miles if anyone wants them for a trip to Colombia. It takes 35,000 miles and I would sell them for $550. If this saves you money over the cost of a cash ticket, contact me.

In addition, miles seats are good for up to a full year in Colombia! Or they are great to use when moving someone up here, since the lower cost cash tickets are only good for 30 or 60 days.

The thing with using miles are that you need to have some flexibility in flight dates. And it is hard to use them during holiday times. Other than that, they are the BEST way to travel... and change fees are only $50!

Agree with Tinto From the west coast (LA) you usually pay another 100. American ran a 500 dollar special during the summer but I do not expect that to come up again. From the west coast this may seem an alright deal, not great. For other travelers from different areas this would be a great deal.

Bill a couple things:
1) What airlines?
2) Who picks up the taxes and security fees?
3) American change fees are 100 not 50. If it is American.

Thanks

RUV Are you saying that you can fly from the west coast to Colombia for 500 dollars round trip per person?????

If that is the case let me know with WHO, from WHERE and WHEN bacause my round trip for new years and january is going to cost 1700 dollars for two.

I actually think that Bill's miles are a good deal!

What do you think?

No American ran a special for like 550 or something like that during the summer. I did not jump on it. I should of. I waited then it went away. Do not expect this deal again. Gas prices.

Taca also runs some good deals as well. This is to Bogota from LA.

I agree this is a good deal.

AA does NOT charge a change fee IF the ticket is.. FF tickets AND you ONLY change the arriving or departing dates. I used AA for the past 4 trips to COL(incl this upcoming one). I've changed dates ALL the time WITHOUT penalty. Now if you change the city, THEN you get charged a $100 USD for EACH city changed.

If Bill charges change fee then the miles are NOT with AA.

As We Speak....(MIA/BOG For $202 With Taxes Included.) American has an offer of $619 USD LAX to BOG. How about Miami to Bogotá for $202.00 USD INCLUDING TAX. This is good through December. I would call Avianca ASAP but at this price I would be surprised if any seats are still open:

comments I'm checking in here to read all your posts.

I prefer not to say the airlines here on the forum, but they are not American. Change fees are $50, and taxes/fees usually run at about $25, much less than for cash tickets.

Miles tickets are not much good for flights for people living in Miami, but for those in the north or west it is a good way to go. This is especially so if you are flying from a Class B airport, and often if you are flying to a city other than Bogota. And as I said above, if you are going for more than 60 days, it is the ONLY way to go, no matter where you're from.

Miles seats are harder to book however, especially around holiday times.

As for the references above concerning airline sales, they are usually only from select cities, they are usually short-term in nature, and seats sell out fast.

Email me at bill1243 at yahoo.com if you have any more questions.

I basically do this as a favor to people going to Colombia. My price is well under the price being charged by brokers on the net. Happy to help in any way. If you are able to buy the needed 35,000 miles cheaper than $550, please feel free to do so...

Good luck...and happy travels.

I have used Bill's services several times Ok you cynics! Trust me Bill's deal with the miles works! I have flown to Bogota on his miles three times and it has worked flawlessly! If you are flying from a destination near Colombia like Miami this may not work for you. But in my case I come from a small airport to get to Seattle and then go to Houston and on to Bogota so you can imagine what a great deal this is for me! All this for the same points as from the large centers. The change fee is only $5o and have changed my ticket several times (usually to stay longer) with no problems what so ever.

Being a little flexible will help with these tickets as the seats are subject to availabilty. The seats are much more difficult to get during busy time for example when the kids are off school. Other than that I have no problems finding what I need. These tickets are a paticularly good deal for those having an extended visit to Colombia as those tickets get very expensive. These tickets are good for up to a one year stay.....Wow!

Add tax and security fees. Lots of restrictions apply. Do not get me wrong, Bill's is a good deal. I am just posting these, because this is a better deal if it fits your travel schedule. If not then Bill's consider Bills offer.

THose are good deals if you can make the dates.. I looked at it, Medellin is also on the list for $452 from LAX. The only thing I saw that kept me from buying ticket in January is the maximum lenght is 30 days. As bill mention, if you're planning on staying past 30-60 days, then FF are way to go.

Bill1243 says on Oct 13, 2005, 00:16:

and Yes, many of the sale tickets are only good for 30 days rather than the usual 60 days. And seats are limited and sell out fast.

Some people choose to fly on bulk/consolidated tickets. This is an option, but usually change fees get real steep.

With miles tickets you can be gone for as long as a year. Even better, it is great for for bringing someone up here from down there...they can stay for a full year and then take a vacation back there. No need to buy a round trip cash ticket for them and end up throwing away the other half...or to buy a one way ticket, which can cost as much as a round trip.

Again, my price is $550 for the necessary miles, but you need some flexibility in your outbound and inbound itineraries. Also, I prefer people who travel more than one time.

Continental Just as a data point, tickets to or from LAX to BOG on Continental right now are $452 RT plus taxes (total is about $550). I bought them recently and there was a lot of availablity. That's with a 30 day max stay, so if you want to stay longer Bill's deal is a good price.

Bill1243 says on Oct 24, 2005, 11:47:

follow up Yes, trips from LAX, as well as Miami and a few other cities, mostly southern cities, can have a good regular rate at times, at least to Bogota. But from most other cities, and especially to cities other than Bogota, the regular cash rate is usually quite high...especially if you are flying from a class B airport. Also, if you are going more than 30 or 60 days, rates for regular tickets spike up exponentially to destinations in South America.

The needed miles, which is 35,000, which I sell for $550, is not for everyone, but it works out to save money in probably 3 out of 4 cases. And change fees are only $50.

It's best to advance book when using miles...and to avoid the holiday times.
