i have just recently purchased the apartment, and will be moving into it in 3 weeks,..at that time i'll have a better idea of a price...the location, looking toward the beach, is on the right half of the beach, at the right corner of the last street that goes to the beach,,there is no street seperating the apartment from the beach..there are a couple high-risers to the right and then comes the walking bridge over the inlet canal. it's behind the last set of palm trees before the high-risers ...bill eskew

If I understood well, the location is a great one. Bill, why rent year lease and not for days?
Are you keeping the apt in Sabaneta or are you going to live in SM?

Listen, pal, I've lived in Santa Marta since 1973, so I know the score. If I said it sounds terrible, then that's exactly what I meant, it's a super noisy, dirty and expensive area overrun by thousands of tourists in high season, would you buy a condo on the beach at Coney Island??

robi666 (Trustee board) says on Jan 3, 2008, 16:18:

Untreated, he's trying to rent out and that's the best location for renting out, o no? It is not that noisy, as well, if you compare it with other spot at El Rodadero.

Of course if you buy a finca in Palomino you would enjoy a cleaner spot, but...

I have to know you. You were the one who told me about living in Santa Marta when I was planning to move something like three years ago. Thanks again. :-)
I'll send an email.

untreated,,you must be awful hard to please,,i can't wait to get back...does coney island have parque tayrona less than an hour by boat or car away with fantastic hiking and snorkling,, how about a private public beach less than 10 minutes by boat or a nice 30 minute hike away, also with good snorkling, or another very, very, private public beach less than 20 minutes by boat away, you can use your imagination for that one,, great fishing all along the coast,,not to mention a calm bay perfect for waterskiing or other sport activities right out my back door, and the water is warm, few people have boats so there is very little competition for these things..rodadero sits right between riohacha and cartagena, the best and only coast line for exploring in colombia,,,,the sand on the rodadero beach is great for jogging or walking, ,,the bay is always calm and usually clear,,it's like having your own very large aquarium to swim in,,the apartment is away from the main activity and is not noisy,,the streets are pretty much dead-ends in the town, so you don't get the crazy traffic..yes, on the main beach, there is a lot of trash, but it gets picked up--usually,,hey it's colombia,,i even like the stray dogs that live on the beach,, if i were to come to rodadero only during the 2- 21\2 months of high season and get an apartment in town and swim on the main beach in the middle of the day, ,i would not like it,,but i don't live that way,,and probably neither would the person i rent to..

robi666,,, i am keeping the sabaneta apartment,,and the reason for the long term lease in rodadero is i want to take an extended trip back to the states, but future plan is to live in both places,,,

bill, i hear you. Doing the same thing right now! Then you will escape El rodadero in high season and rent for days, making the same money that you would with a long lease.

Bill,

Where exactly is this apartment? If it's still available I'd like to see it sometime. I've been living in B/quilla for 4 years and to be honest, the beach here sucks! Also, the thought of a very nice private public beach, a boat, and my dive gear sound very promising!
