Satanic rituals or Christian rituals... The corpses were concealed inside statues of Christian icons alongside crucifixes and medals.

Why would they think they were "intended for use in Satanic rituals"? Seems to me they were intended for use in Christian rituals.

Furthermore, I don't see what the big hoopla is about. Fetuses are aborted and babies are abandoned after birth in all major cities, regardless of what religious dogma commands.

While in Bogotá last month, I saw a report dealing with the upteen baby found abandoned in the city. In Jacksonville, where I live, fire stations and police station are empowered to accept a baby from anyone, no questions asked (which is a better option than just leaving them in the trash can).

I agree neonovo I, too, thought it was strange to jump to the conclusion of Satanic rituals in light of the Catholic medals. Man, whoever it is, people do some freaky and nasty shit.

Gator says on Sep 29, 2005, 09:21:

It Is Possible... this is part of a Santaria ritual or an offshoot called Palo Mayombre, a religion that incorporates both Christian and African deities. The Colombia drug dealers subscribe to this and I understand before a big load went out this would be done to gain "protection."

Just a guess on my part.

Who would do this? "It would be the Satanic folks. It is well known that they use Christian artifacts in their ceremony (upside down cross, etc.)"

Upsidedown crosses, maybe, but fetuses?

Maybe in horror movies.

Yeah, the church has done a great job of spreading information.

Now the popular belief is that the purveyors of these types of rituals have Satanic beliefs. This is far from true, the whole "if it's not Christian, it's Satanic" belief. Santeria, Candomble, Voodoo, even Anglican rituals are not Satanic practices.

What Hollywood and the media do to spread such misinformation. It's a joke. Even funnier is how supposedly intelligent people just happily gobble it up. Esp. in the USA. No one researches anything anymore.

Would be interested ... ...to know quindioman if Simon Bolivar was a Mason. I probably could research the question but easier if you already have the answer.

Thanks

Heres the text from the actual article. Foetuses found at Bogota airport

Police said the foetuses might have been meant for Satanic rituals
Colombian police have found the bodies of three human foetuses hidden in statues destined for the United States.
The discovery was made by officers searching for contraband at Bogota Airport on Tuesday.

The corpses were wrapped in plastic and concealed inside statues of Christian icons, which were smashed open.

Colombian police chief Gen Jord Alirio Varon said the four- to five-month-old foetuses could have been intended for use in Satanic rituals.

Gen Varon said the foetuses were found alongside crucifixes and medals.

He said officials are trying to find out who sent the packages, which came from Barranquilla in Colombia and were destined for Miami in the US.

Interesting they came from Barranquilla. When my girlfriend lived in Barranquilla she had a friend that was kidnapped and sacrificed. Well, technically there were no eyewitnesses, but the body had inscriptions on it and certain organs removed. I won't get too much into that. Point is, that happened in Barranquilla as well.

not to reiterate but it does sound to me as if it is all satanic. not catholic or protestant at all.
and i know we all want to sound tolerant and everything but toneloc- your comment:

"the whole "if it's not Christian, it's Satanic" belief. Santeria, Candomble, Voodoo, even Anglican rituals are not Satanic practices."

is in my opinion, seriously misguided. THEY ARE SATANIC and this fact does not stem from it being an antithesis to christianity because as was previously stated, many times they misuse christian imagery, it is in fact rooted in the reasoning behind and the actual practice of their core rituals and practices.

to anyone, that has fallen for the lie that they are just other religions to be juxtaposed with western religions, please dissuade yourself from this assumption.

raquelita714 what is your precise definition of "western religions" please? I just want to try to understand your comment better.

kernow62 says on Sep 30, 2005, 15:36:

So what is "western religions", or don't you have an answer?

Christianity has done its share of killing and persecuting so while perhaps not of the same ilk as Satan worship they certainly aren't squeaky clean. Also many "Christians" have absolutely no tolerance for other people's beliefs or lack of beliefs. Certainly not what Jesus would have preached. Anything to do with magick is deemed Satanic when in actuality Christianity and Judaism and most religions are chock full of magick symbolism.

Mr. Hollywood says on Sep 30, 2005, 17:29:

satanic vs. satanism Look, if your defination of satanic is synonymous with "evil" then, sure, this was satanic. However, if you start talking about "satanists" you need to do a little research. There's a fairly large group of people called The Church of Satan who are formally called Satanists, just like members of the Catholic Church are called Catholics. I'm not all that familiar with the Church of Satan but I do know that they don't believe in God or Satan, they don't engage in animal or human sacrifice and, once you get past the spooky imagery, they're really no weirder than a lot of religions.

I don't doubt there are evil people doing evil shit and saying they did it for Satan, but that happens in a lot of different ways.Put another way, hardly a day goes by that you can't read in the news about some Christian freak locking his kids in the basement to protect them from the world's evil ways or a polygamist splinter-group mormon taking his 10th child bride because his religion says it's his duty to god, yet very few people would call that a christian act.
