flying to U.S. from Medellin

Hey everybody,
I could use some help while I'm planning my first trip to Medellin. I am not flying to Medellin from the U.S. to begin with, so I will not have a round trip ticket. I was looking for a one way on these discount websites, but none of them offer anything except round trip and not outbound one way to the states. Now, is it hard to purchase a ticket from Medellin to the states on short notice of about 10 days? I'll probably purchase one when I arrive in the airport. And who do you recommend to fly with? I will be flying to Texas if that makes any difference. Also, generally how much are tickets to Miami for instance? or Texas if you know it? I'm just looking for the best deal out there and trying to financially map out my whole vacation. I will be there in July, so if anything exciting is happening I would also like to know about that. Finally, I'm looking for a decent hotel in the price range of $35-$40/day if you guys could recommend one, or even less as long as it's halfway decent. thanks all, this is a great site and very informative. beef27

really? then how would one go about purchasing a ticket ahead of time? is there a website for this? i cannot do it on orbitz or the like, since it is a one way out of colombia. any help appreciated. beef27

I purchased a one way on American Next Day ticket I purchased the day before a one way with American Medellin to Miami in the office near San Diego..There is a little mall there that has Avianca and American had no problem but paid 550.00 dollars. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO oh well had to get to Miami quickly. I came to late for Avianca to let me board and they would not budge and that is another story I will not get into at the Airport many people pissed off when they close out there flights more than hour. So that afternoon went back to Medellin and went directly to an AA office in Medellin a bought a one way ticket for the next morning flight to Miami but paid 550.00 dollars.. I had no problem getting thru US Homeland Security and Customs real quick. Will be tough to find a good price on a One Way you just need to pay.. Try Copa other option I never tried.
