Flying to Colombia

I have a friend who is a pilot for a subsidiary of a major airline. He tells me that his free plane tickets that he gets will allow him to fly to Bucaramanga. I am kind of leary about this, as I am thinking of buying a pass from him for an upcoming trip, it would certainly be a lot cheaper, but has anyone ever done this? I dont want to waste my money to find out that it cant be done. He works for American Express. Do airlines honor other airlines passes? Any help would be great.

maybe All airlines have what is called an interline agreement, that is you can fly almost for nothing on other airlines as long as you work for an airline. However, there are limits as to other people having that privilige, in order to have that privilige you have to be related to that person, and by relation i mean, spouse, daughter, son, mother, father. He may be able to get you a buddy pass, but since you are not saying which airline you are going to fly to buca on, i canot tell you wether it is possible or not. By the way I know all this because I also work for an airline and I fly quite often on other airlines and I can say that most of the airline industry follows the same pattern.

Well, I actually have two friends one of them is flying for American Express which I believe is a independent subsidiary of American, and the other friend is an instruct for Delta Connections. From my experiences there is only I believe one or two airlines that fly into Buca, I guessI just need to know if I buy a buddy pass from my friend, will it get me to Buca and back? Thanks for your help.

I don't know if buddy passes can be used on other airlines, for example avianca and aerorepublica are the only ones that fly into buca , I doubt very much that delta or american have a buddy pass system with these two, They probably have an interline agreement but as i stated above, you can only fly on these if you are an immedaitely family member. Unless your friend knows something I don't than I don't see that happening. If he does I would be curious to know
