Flying in to Bogota

Hi everyone,

I'm flying into Bogota for the first time in about 3 weeks from Australia on my own. I have never been to Colombia before and I was just wondering where would be a good place to stay. A safe area until I get used to it.

Thanks

Are you a backpacker or standard tourist?
What would you like to visit in Bogota?

It's a large urban areas with all types of hotels from Intercontintal Hotel level to backpacker's hostels.

North of the city stay in the central and northern part of the city, u might want to shy away from the south part of the city, that part is probably more on the dangerous sidelook for hotels around calle 85 that where zona rosa starts where lots of bars are.

I think that hotels in the calle 85 area would be out of his budget. For mid-range prices in what is still a nice and interesting neighborhood, look around Chapinero Alto. Roughly calle 53 to calle 72 around the carrera 7a.

parque de la 93 you might also wanna look for a place in that area, it's very safe and it's surrounded by nice bars and restaurants. i heard there's a hotel just round the corner that is simple but nice and clean, and it's about $100,000 per night (that is about 40 dollars)
