Why not just purchase flowers from a local shop? I believe that would be the least expensive method.

How reliable is this web site? Does anyone other than campbell knows the reliability of placing an order with a credit card? Thanks.

I agree with MT. Find a good local florist in your girl's city and use them. I found a local florist that lets me pay her every few months. I'll send her about $200.000 COP every once in a while and she just delivers the orders when I call. She will even let me pay later on some orders so I don't have to send a moneygram for every order.

I get a bouquet of two fresh dozen roses with all the associated greenery and a vase delivered for under $25. I never have asked my wife what the hell she does with all the vases. She must have quite a few by now. I have heard that flowers from the online services are sometimes not all that fresh, especially if the recipient doesn't live in one of the major cities.

You do not need to be in Colombia to do business with a local florist.

I sent flowers to someone in the hospital as well ast a bouquet as a thank you to a woman who treated my like family when I was in Medellin on both my trips.I live in USA.

Before I started doing like ColombianoGringo, I always used www.flowerstocolombia.com for deliveries in Bogota, since I'm in Bogota once a moth I found local shop that I pay in advance. Flowers to Colombia actually helped me find them!! Not as good as the export flowers I got from them, but gets the job done. (did get ripped of once however by one local vendor!)

Even now, I still use them outside of Bogota, sent my fiances mother flowers today for valentines day in Medellin, delivered in about two hours and I didn't place the order until 1:00 PM.

Good people and great service and located in Colombia, been using them for several years.

I saw this post yesterday and looked up the website. I had looked at flowerstoColombia before but never placed an order. Comparing the prices on the two websites, flora2000 had the advantage. Late last night, I placed an order for a bouquet to be sent to Bonda. They guaranteed that it would get there by 7:00pm. At 4:00pm, I could wait no longer and called to see what happened. As it turned out, my friend was away from the house; they spoke to her mother who told them where she was and delivered them there at 12:30. She's happy. I'm happy. And it didn't break me.

cambell, you're not kidding...badass. I normally would have called a friend to buy the flowers locally and drop them off but noone was around and floras2000 came through with flying colors. The price is much higher than a local purchase but quite competitive with doing the same in the US, maybe a bit cheaper than most. They even have an online chat at the order site where I was able to connect with a representative in seconds and ask my questions. My girlfriend was at her parents in a smaller city and the house is quite off the beaten track (literally an 1/8th mile down a single track dirt path). I left some special instructions in Spanish on the order at the internet site and not only did she get the flowers the next day, she received exactly what I ordered, she got a phone call from the local florist after the delivery to confirm all was well, and I got an email within an hour after that to confirm delivery. I was impressed. Thanks for the tip - it helped smooth our dia del amor this time around given I couldn't get ahold of anyone.

Flyamerican, I liked your model too, I think that is a great way to go since you don't have to impose on folks and still get the benefit of local rates and overall just less fragile machinery in the process.

bitstr3am, I did get burnt once by prepaying and the florist went out of business, but no problems so far with the present one, I send flowers twice a week and I'm in Bogota 3 days a month or I would still be using www.flowerstocolombia.com, the first florist I ever used was floras2000, I felt they low balled me on the price then added a delivery charge, my fault, I was in a hurry, I just ordered anyway, thats when I changed florist, I still use flowers to Colombia outside of Bogota, plus they have some other non florist services I use. I like their personalized service.

floras2000 is solid. i have used them twice. i like them because they handwrite out the note really fancy, make it look good and revise it a little if your spanish sucks. i have never used flowerstocolombia but i was looking at their site and you get 2 dozen roses for the price of one dozen on floras2000 (about 40 bucks including delivery which is about half what they would cost here in the US). I have never used them and i thought 2 dozen was overkill so i stuck with floras2000. I am going to try a local shop next time.
