Yes, and a one way flight from Cart back to Panama City was $340, for which reason the overland route thru Monteria, Turbo and Capurnaga in Col to Pt. Olbadia in Pan and small prop plane flight over the Darien to Panama C. is gaining popularity. Everything is way up in Colombia, and in some towns even rice and beans is a luxury. I would have to have a pretty damn good reason to go back beyond simple sightseeing......

What airlines are you looking at? I have actually gotten some pretty good fares lately for flights inside Colombia.

Jet Fuel was probably 1/2 the price when you got those $200 tickets, its the new economy and its going to get even more expensive so bite the bullet for yet higher fares,,,

I would have to really be desperate to save money to ride a small plane in Panamá. There have been numerous crashes and death in the past few months of small planes and helicopters.

And traveling over FARC territory of Choco/Darien, overland or in the air, would make me even more nervous.

I have found national flights in Colombia are very expensive...Its cheaper to fly MIA-Cartegena than it is Medellin to Cartegena. Compared to how many hours the flight is to US Domestic routes.National Flights in Colombia are expensive. How can a Medellin to Panama City ticket be more expensive than a ticket from Miami to Panama does not make sense..and still have not figured it out unless a monopoly on flights so they can charge more..I don't know..
