Flights out of Bogota

Hi:
I want to spend 4 months this year in Thailand and 3 months in Bogota. I am leaving from Victoria, BC. this September and want to return June 1st. My first question is , are there any International flights out of Bogota that go to Thailand or even close? Second, if not, what is the best place to catch a flight there close to Bogota? If worst came to worst I could just take a one way to Bangkok from maybe Houston or San Fran to Bangkok and then to Victoria. I hate to think of how much that would cost. I was thinking of pulling off two round trips and ending up back in Victoria, but I think you can only hold a ticket for 6 months. No? Problem is the cost of those one way trips is horrific. I sure would appreciate your input guys.

Flights from Bogota to Thailand are probably pretty expensive.

Quito (in Ecuador) has more international flights as it is a travellers hub. You might be able to get a flight from there to London and then on to Thailand, that would seem the most reasonable route for cheap tickets.

gringodiego yes I have heard of cheaptickets but they do not represent all airlines. And they can't give me information like Peter just gave me. I did find out that Lufthansa flys out of Bogota to Spain. I may go that route our take Peter's advice about Ecuador. Ecuador seems pretty good to me too. Maybe stay there for a weeks or two. Thanks Peter for the suggestion.

On a sidenote. Lufthansa doesn't fly from Bogota to Spain... better yet: Lufthansa doesn't fly to Bogota, period. Lufthansa flies from Frankfurt to Caracas and funnel connecting passengers. Iberia on the other hand _does_ fly between Colombia and Spain.

Note that a Thai tourist visa is only valid for 60-day stays, this might affect your flights. Also, you may not want to be out of Canada for more than 6 mos if you want your full pension.

Air Plus Comet from Bogotá to Madrid
Air Madrid from Bogotá to Madrid
Air Madrid from Bogotá to Barcelona
Air Madrid from Cartagena to Madrid
Air Madrid from Cartagena to Barcelona

Both Air Plus Comet and Air Madrid offer very competitive prices.
Avianca is also offering very good prices on its Barcelona route as it is just launching this route.

You can also use Air France from Bogotá to Paris then connecting on to Spain.
