Good Luck..If you can get to MIA cheap then you can catch the Avianca flight but noticed that fare has gone up lately..or catch Spirit out of FLL into Cartegena...

No matter how you try and work it the toronto-bogota Air Canada flight and the avianca to barranquilla is still the better option it runs around 1300 CDN and no wasted time in USA. Also, the return flight from bogota to Toronto is a red eye so you really can maximize your holiday time arrive to work from the airport on your return . Any connection through Miami or FLL may save a few hundred dollars but it means wasted time in line-ups or bored in the miami airport.

True statement Tompower that wasted time...and lost time can be expensive too..I use that in my factor on buying airline tickets all the time...The ticket is 150.00 more but you save six hours...buying the ticket at 150.00 more unless you have all the time in the world...and also usually you spend money in the airport while waiting for your next flight no way...

You should cross over through Buffalo and take a flight from JFK.

buffalo to NYC can be had for about $200 return.
Your options from JFK are better than from Toronto.

if you're not leaving last minute you're better off calling avianca and getting their code-share on air canada vs. air-canada themselves... they sell the code-share at a (usually) lower rate than what aircanada has it posted for. Good luck!

You could do YYZ to CCS (Caracus) for $960 CDN after taxes and do the long overnight bus ride to BAQ. It is cheaper because there is no 2nd flight, but hard on the body. I have seen Germans do it because they have a much cheaper flight to CCS than SMR or BAQ.

Hey buddy, if I were you what I would seriously consider doing is jus catching an AMTRAK train down to New York city and you'll get a much cheaper flight out of JFK.

I flew from JFK to Medellin last year at about $535 US all taxes in, and this when the CAD was stronger than the USD. Obviously now the prices will be more expensive, but definitely cheapr than 1500.00 if you book ahead

Don't know what to tell you. Might also be cheaper to fly via Orlando, Miami or Fort Lauderdale? The cost of flying to Colombia is skyrocketing, and Air Can't-Aid-Ya just flies to Bogota, as you know.

Might save some money on www.kayak.com if you are prepared for incredibly long layovers. Any cheaper way of getting from Bogota to Barranquilla?

I just looked up Kayak YYZ to BAQ, Sept 10 to 17th for chits and giggles. $892, 11 hour flight each way. Doesn't seem bad.

ive booked flights for about 11 hundred ...edmonton to bq return...alaska from edmonton to miami and avianca from miami to bq.
you might check out mexicana airlnes as i could have got a ticket from edmonton to bogota for 844 bucks including taxes from edmonton to mexico city and then to bogota...from there you could connect with avianca to bq or its possible there is a direct flight from mexico city to bq with avianca or some other airline as i never checked...sounds like you are paying to much..
i usually stop in miami for a day so it works for me and the money saved Not using air canada will easily pay for the hotel bill and a trip to south beach...
good luck
