Flight problems

I am driving from SC to Fl on Monday to catch a flight to Bogota on Spirit. After that, I am flying on Aires from Bogota to Medellin. However, I have big weather problems and don't know if I can make my flights. Will I loose my money if I can't make them or will they let me fly at a later date. Thanks for your help.

call your airline but from what I remember an airline tkt is valid for 1 year but you will have to pay a rebooking fee... good luck

it should dude as all airlines operate under IATA rules... another thing you can ask for is a MCO (mislanous(sp) travel order) a type of credit voucher. airlines don't like to give these but you have given them money and they should not keep your money because you cound not make your flight.
If you run into a brick wall with a tkt agent politely ask for the manager and explain to him/her.

bottom line... be stubborn. airlines hate bad press.

wait until the last minute to contact them because they may cancel the flights themselves because of weather. if this happens you won't be out any extra airline fees...if YOU cancel prepare to pay rebooking fees and a fee differential if the price for that flight has gone up since you booked.

Badboy is correct-if the airline cancels you win - if you cancel because weather held you up you loose.

While IATA serves the airline industry, it is not a regulatory body, and cannot intervene in service disputes or other commercial matters involving airlines or agents and their customers. For any issue, consumers should approach the respective airline or agent directly.

If it's not too late, purchase the travel insurance that Spirit offers for $12.00. That should take care of your Florida-Bogota leg. I read on Aires website that you should cancel your reservation ahead of time to preserve the value of your ticket. Look into that as well. Monday is a long way off, relatively speaking. Plan for the worst and hope for the best. Good Luck.

Usually your funds are good for one year and you pay the flat penalty fee plus the fare difference but see if they will allow the travel insurance with Spirit still but you would really need proof of the hardship. Don't know your dates right now there will be no cancellations or weather problems unless IKE decides to make a visit next week to S.Florida...Hannah won't even get close and will be a sunny day here in S.Florida. I am sure you will able to drive with Hannah being a very weak storm.. Great Policy with Aires Though..

Because of Hurricane Hanna coming in? Can you take off work early? It might pay to take a couple extra days off work versus losing your flights and possible having to pay more to re-book.

If IKE hits S.Florida at CAT 3 or Higher watch out....but really think that is going to take the same path as Hanna...shoot right up the Bermuda Triangle...
