I am sick of hearing early morning fireworks in Medellin!
Pop-pop-pop-pop-pop. Occasional BOOM
The peak was Xmas Eve (So much for Silent Night) ...but now I am hearing and seeing them this morning -- and it is 10am on Jan 6th, 2008.
I can see the wisps of smoke from a distance...emanating from somewhere up the hill above CC Vizcaya / Parque Lleras.
Is there no ordinance against this? Not that I expect it could be enforced.
Aiiiee!

Lowell says on Jan 6, 2008, 07:14: Chill, today and tomorrow is the celibration of the 3 wise men who visited Jesus. And in Colombia, any excuse to party is a good enough excuse. You need to learn and accept that on any given day or nigh there may be fireworks. The pop pop boom you hear is a Culebra (sp?) a long cord of firecrackers with a big one at the end. Just be glad that it's not the sound of guns. Alfred E. Newman. "What. Me Worry?" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

mranderson says on Jan 6, 2008, 10:08: I think it's pretty annoying too. All the firecrackers that the kids have and they walk around the nieghborhood throwing them next to people's windows. Nobody yells at them for it so I guess they don't mind. It's pretty much died down in my nieghborhood though, I haven't heard any for several days.

mranderson says on Jan 6, 2008, 11:03: Earplugs?? haha I'm not going to sit in my house watching tv or whatever wearing earplugs just because someone might throw a firecracker near my window. It's really not that bad but it does get annoying day after day. A couple of these "firecrackers" were pretty big, like m80s or quarter sticks. Had one of those thrown near my window (my bedroom is right next to the sidewalk) and it scared the crap out of me.

mranderson says on Jan 6, 2008, 11:10: Are you talking about the party at pepe's? I wonder if that's ever going to happen. Would be a great way for a bunch of folk from here to check out the place and if it is what he says give good reviews.

Medellin Traveler says on Jan 6, 2008, 12:09: That's good. No need to rent a room, it's a PBH meet up, with cold Pilsens, I hope. La cuidad de la primavera, estoy feliz porque te vuelvo a ver - www.medellintraveler.com 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

mranderson says on Jan 6, 2008, 12:18: That's what I'm talking about. MT since your coming in 2 weeks maybe someone can convince pepe that that would be a good time to have a party. Perhaps you could bring a nice bottle of whiskey from the US. Like evan williams I think it's called. I like the flavor.

mranderson says on Jan 7, 2008, 09:40: Not facing the street, the sidewalk with other houses on the other side. I know, I would rather have a different bedroom but this is the only one available. I'm still looking for another house.
