juli says on Jan 31, 2008, 15:26: Mr Buckeye. Go a university that specializes in international business. You will be suprised how many bilingual students there are who would love to translate. You can offer 20K an hour and you will be spoiling them. Someone in Cali can elaborate on a particular school.

Robert Jorge says on Jan 31, 2008, 21:18: Juli has a great idea. I would just add that maybe 20.000 is a little high. I would try to find somebody that would take a flat fee for a day, and then agree to buy them lunch, dinner, entertainment, whatever. 20 grand pesos is 10 bucks an hour - that is a LOT of money. Maybe for 6 or 7 mil pesos an hour, plus entertainment expenses, you can find a student who could show you around, interpret, suggest the cool places to go, etc. Just an idea. Throwing around 20 mil per hour offers might open yourself up to being robbed or grossly taken advantage of. Mononoke28 says on Feb 1, 2008, 08:00: I don't know if you have a point or not jorgegdiaz but my husband while living in Tuluá had a friend who works for Telecom. Every time he stopped by to hang out there was at least 1 or 2 women using the internet trying to land a foreigner. So of course the friend had access to everything they were writing and could even see what the webcams were showing. And so these women were thinking they were behind "closed" doors taking their shirts off and doing all kinds of stuff to see if the guy would bite. Diana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

jorgegdiaz (☼Travelguide writer) says on Feb 1, 2008, 08:30: Mono, I am aware of the situation and how they do it. I was just pointing that something must be going on in Cali for so many women trying "to land" a foreigner husband. Democratic party or Republican party is fine......as long as theres a party!!!!!!! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Mononoke28 says on Feb 1, 2008, 12:53: You're right. I haven't seen it happen that often in Medellín or Bogotá. In Tuluá you also hear about all these families getting money from their daughters who are now living in Spain working as prostitutes. I never saw that in Medellín. Diana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
