Finally pics of Colombia

Ok so I finally found a good site to upload pics and got around to doing it... For now there are pics I´ve taken over the last year in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali and the Coffee Region. Images of other places I visited to come soon!

Let me know what you all think:

Great photos! You have a very

Great photos! You have a very good eye for including people in your shots. It looks like you had nice weather in Bogotá. What month were you there?

I took a few photos in the exact spot as you. For comparison I posted one of the narrow street you took and one of mine as well as one I altered for mood effect.

That street always seems very busy and is likely to be photographed a lot.

If you look in one of the Arterciopeldos music videos the same little street is used.

Beautiful pictures!!!!!!!!!!!! They are excellent!!! The ones of Bogota I loved...
I just had an idea that it might be interesting to organize some photography exhibit of pictures of colombia taken by travelling gringos..........Would you be up for it?

Very nice I particularly liked your shots from El Edificio. That's one of my favorite lunch spots in Bogota. That night view from there is awesome, too.

Ja ja ja!!!!! Litost, I took almost the same picture you took of the lazy dogs... ja ja ja.

I took this picture near 90 con 13, this indigente guys trains dogs to do what he says.... I thought it was so cute and interesting, i had to take a pic of it.
Notice the little black dog in the middle is not obeying orders at all, he seems more interested in being nasty! ja ja ja.

Lucia that is a good idea. A view of Colombia through the eyes of visitors. Sometimes we see things that locals might take for granted, and what we take photos of (Calipro excepted) might not be what locals might consider photo worthy.

Excellent pictures, I especially liked the ones of Manizales, as I will be going there but havent seen too many pics of the area before now.

kernow: there are pictures of Bogotá between february and july of this year, but I think most of those in the Candelaria with the great weather were sometime in february or march.

Desi: show your kids some of these pics and tell them that there is awesome and varied nightlife in the big cities, they´ll come around to visiting Colombia again.

Lucia: an exhibit sounds like a great idea... but, although I do carry a blue passport and have lived different periods of my life in the US, I am no "travelling gringo". Parents from Antioquia and Caldas, lived as a teenager in Santa Rosa de Cabal, and studied college in Bogotá.

Hollywood: yes, the Edificio is a great point of the city, some friends and I rented it for a night and had a party on the 5th floor... amazing! This area of Bogotá has great potential for becoming a more lively and dynamic neighborhood, if only people felt safe enough to hang around at night and some businesses would take a chance.

Colombiche: it's very bizzare, that day I passed they were completely still, and I didn´t even see the guy around. I was in a rush so really couldn´t give it much thought at the time, luckily I had my camera with me.

MacGringo: you´ll love Manizales, it´s a great little city, modern and lively with students, in a beautiful setting.

I just uploaded some new pics of Santa Fe de Antioquia, Taganga, Parque Tayrona and Nevado del Ruiz. Check em out!

Yes Kernow I think you guys ahould do it. ;make an axhibition or edit a book. if it were a book you could have all kinds of people who live abroad and that some way or another have links to Colombia. The yeye of the foreigner is always interesting.
Sorry litost about the travelling gringo thing... But I like the sound of the combination of the words... it has ring doesn't it?

chao!!

It would be fantastic to have something so tangible come out of this virtual realtionship.

kernow62 says on Oct 8, 2005, 08:24:

As luck would have it one of my sidelines is book publishing, although I have not attempted a colour photo book yet.

Another sort of book I like is the "Day In the Life of ...." books, where photographers all over the city or country take a photo on the same day. The best are compiled into a book.

Lucia Rojas says on Oct 8, 2005, 08:57:

That is a very cool idea But if you already know about publishing etc. I think it would be a beautiful project... and you might even get some financing if you look for it...

super chevere!

litost says on Oct 8, 2005, 21:32:

No need to apologize Lucia, I was just pointing out that I am full blooded colombian, not gringo.

I just added the last batch of pics from my recent travels through Colombia including Villa de Leyva, Neiva and San Agustín.
