For those familiar with Medellin, can you tell me about how far the airport is from the Hilton Hotel. (I am assuming there is only one Hilton Hotel, probably in downtown, or business district... please correct, if I am wrong about that assumption, too.)
AND, what other nice hotels in the same class, might be next to, or very, very close to the Hilton? name them, please, if you have know, and give opinion about the service.
And, in checking for flights, I see some connections going from Houston through Panama City on COPA Airlines? Anyone with any experience with Copa? I was unaware. But, there are many options.
Yes. It is to meet 'mi novia de Pasto', but due to circumstances.... a spontaneous trip, for short time, and in Medellin!
The tough part of the trip will be (mi novia works for Leonisa....a Colombian Lingerie company...) and this will be their Annual Convention in their hometown of Medellin,... and I may be forced to watch the young Colombian models on some runway.... not the airport! Yikes!
Of course!... if you are going to be in Medellin on the first of September.... she might be able to get a few extra tickets to get you in the door (for the Show!)
And, she has meetings to attend during the day, so I what could be better than having a brew or two with someone from PBH, in the early afternoon? Sept 1,2,3, 4...
I have not logged into PBH for about a week, suddenly, after being on here almost every day or night for a few months.
Por Que?
I have been working to make this trip happen! That is why. AND, I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE ON THIS SITE FOR ALL THE THINGS YOU SHARE; I FEEL MORE THAN ADEQUATELY AND VERY COMFORTABLY READY FOR THIS FIRST TRIP TO COLOMBIA!
Humorously....in a post 3 weeks ago, some poor soul asked what they needed to take to Colombia.... and, the responses were very entertaining..."Your clothes". and some meal $. So,
at first, we were talking about meeting in Cali next weekend, and she swore she would not let me out of the Hotel room in Cali... so, unless someone writes back and says they would like to take me up on that afternoon brew..... I have decided to go in my bathrobe with attache case in hand ;)
Thanks to everyone for so much information, informing, thought-provoking, entertaining and otherwise!

It's probably closer to 30 minutes into town as you are going down the mountain. It can be 60 minutes going to the airport.

utopiacowboy says on Aug 18, 2005, 11:41: The city airport in Medellin (Herrera) only serves a handful of destinations in Colombia. Luckily one of them is Monteria. Unfortunately it's on West Caribbean. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

jelsaad says on Aug 18, 2005, 13:23: There is no Hilton in Medellin. I recommend the Belfort, Park 10, Dann Carlton, Sheraton, or Novelty Suites --all in theEl Poblaso district. Centro/downtown is not the best place to be.
