Fighting in the Sierra Nevada

When a friend of mine and I have wanted to make some long walks out of Trujillo Valle we always asked the police because they knew where we could go and where we couldn´t. I would certainly take their word over some chisme from a taxi driver. or store owner. It is very importantant for the police to know where it´s hot and where it´s not. They´re the ones who get shot up the most.

This area has always been hot. It's just that these, days it's bad.

The cab driver said the same thing -two gangs fighting each other and the army.

I don't look at police information as any better than anyone else's. I used to drive cab and I remember one girl who just moved to town said that her father is a cop told her to ask cab drivers about safety at night. He told her that cabbies know more about that stuff than police.

I felt that between the lines of what that cabbie told me was something like the police are instructed to say it's safe.
