Fidel Castro's Son Tricked In Online Romance Scheme With Make Believe Colombiana

One of Fidel Castro's sons carried on an eight-month flirtation over the Internet with a person he believed was a Colombian woman. Surprise! The woman was actually a Miami man.

The trickster said the prank, broadcast on a Miami TV station, showed it's possible to get around Cuba's security.

''Guess where I am and I will make love to you without stopping,'' Antonio Castro Soto del Valle, Fidel's son and physician for the Cuban national baseball team, reportedly wrote ''Claudia'' during a January trip to Russia with his uncle Raúl.

But ''Claudia'' turned out to be Luis Domínguez, a Cuban-born Miamian who unveiled the sting on Americateve TV Channel 41 in Miami, saying it was designed to ''shatter the myth of an impenetrable'' security system.

"yeah well, Colombians used to go to Cuba for sex tours in the 90s. Cuba lacks the injun mix so we're talking better culos, bigger breasts and taller chicas in Cuba. I doubt Fidel's son would have to bother with Colombia for chocha."

I'm sure this pervert would go on those sex tours as well.

First off, I think the stories a Hoax. (Urban Legend) and seconfd off, having spent a lot of time in both countries, yeah, the Colombianas are a zillion times more attractive than the Cubanas. Allthough I had a very nice girlfriend and had a crush on another cute one in Cuba too.

I think Morphus posted at another time here he went through a 3rd country like Canada. Today, or at least during the 8 Bush years, you had to be careful what 3rd countries you travel through to get to Cuba because some countries were being asked to share their passenger Manifests with the USA on who traveled where. And some US Passengers received hefty fines, like up to $10,000 a pop. Bush considered Cuba to be a Terrorist Nation but yet, incredibly our own Government allowed(and still does today) ANY Cuban who arrived(arrives) here by Boat and who touched(touches) dry soil, to remain in the USA. How many of these were Castro Operatives or from other countries hell bent on harming the US is the other question. These Cubans who arrive by boat without a valid visa should be rounded up, detained and background checks should be throughly conducted on them just as anyone from another country like Colombia, Mexico would be subjected to. Why should Cubans be excluded? Its aleardy been shown Castro has a lot of Spies here in the USA, just last week two more were caught who lived here and spied on us for 30 + years. Sometimes the US is its own worst enemy and here's a hood example why. Wait'll another 9/11 type Gang of Terrorists exploit this lax cuban loophole for entering our country.

"... how'd you get a visa for Cuba, Morphus? how long ago was it? or can anyone go there?..."

No Visa required, Douglas. It's a simple Tourist Card that anyone can purchase for about $20.

Tens upon tens upon tens upon thousands of Americans illegally visit Cuba every year with no problems whatsoever. Cuba welcomes them with open arms - they won't even stamp your passport. Travel smart and it's almost impossible to run into problems when returning to the US.

That said, let's consider the worst case scenario... Imagine you completely lose your mind and upon returning home admit to US Customs and Border Protection that you visited Cuba or that you were stupid enough to somehow give US CBP irrefutable proof that you went to Cuba.

What would happen?... You'd negotiate a settlement of $250 - $1,000 with the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), pay the fine, and forget about the entire episode. No trial. No prosecution. No criminal record. Nothing.

If you're interested in politics/history (and music) it's one of the most interesting and unique countries in the Western Hemisphere and well worth a visit.

Terry

"... They would have agents sitting in those 3rd countries where they knew people commonly used to get into to Cuba. They would then watch the flights coming in from Cuba and what people got off and jumped on a connecting flight to the USA..."

"... The law against traveling to Cuba is actually against spending money in Cuba I believe..."

=======================================================================

Jeff, those are both urban myths.

In any case, the present day situation is that it's VERY simple for an American to travel illegally to Cuba with no worries about serious legal repercussions.

Morphus, since they haven't stamped Passports for years and years those little bank stamps (always on Page 16) are a bit of a collector's item now. Do you ever look at them and get a tiny bit nostalgic for the bad old days?...

Cheers Terry says on Jun 14, 2009, 17:36:

Douglas,

Since the US has an Embargo against Cuba it's illegal for any American - or anyone residing in the US no matter what their nationality - to visit Cuba as a tourist. That means there are no flights from the US to Cuba that are open for tourist travel.

(Amongst all the hell-holes on this planet Cuba is the ONLY country that the US government has made illegal for an American citizen to visit as a tourist. North Korea, Sudan, Somalia, etc. - they're all fine...)

An American tourist has to sneak into Cuba by flying there via a 3rd country - Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica, Panama, etc.

It's one of the stupidest/silliest bits of US foreign policy in existence.

Cheers,
Terry
