fiancee visa My petition was approved in 43 days after receipt at the Dallas Center. Other than that, your message rings true. If so, I should have my Perla Sin Precio here in January 2005. I hope we all have good luck. Thanks for the post...VERY helpful. Regards -gunner

just got my approval letter -i mailed in my packet on 2/15
-received notice of reciept 2/28

-recieved notice of needed documentation from internet.. never received letter that was to come

-called processing center 3 weeks later as per directions and received letter 2 weeks later that they were looking into the matter

-never heard anything until I returned from colombia and found approval letter dated 9/3 .

So that part of the process took 6 months.

She was sure I must have made a mistake, I was sure I didnt. Damn the processing center for not being able to respond to ANY questions. Also, dont bother to call the embassy in Bogota, it will cost you about $50,000 Co just to find out they have nothing to do with fiancee visas.

Now my fiancee has to fill out visa application and make an appt with embassy in Bogota. That takes 2 more months? crap.

so what is the total cost once she gets to embassy, for her and son to get visas? (he is age 4)

Visa

I just returned from the visa process. I would like to add that if they grant you the visa, they will notify you at the embassy after the interview is completed. The doctor exam was 100 U.S. dollars, and then we had to pay a fee to the Banc of Colombia which is near the U.S. embassy.Make sure that you pay this fee a day or 2 in advance of your interview. The banks in bogota are different than in the states. The guard will be at the door and he will ask your fiance what her business is there at the bank. They would not even allow me to enter the bank. The cost of delivering the visa to my fiance was 44 thousand pesos and it took 21 days to deliver since she lives in Soledad. It takes 10 business days if the woman lives in Bogota. Hopefully you will get the older man at the embassy to interview your fianceas he was very nice and just looked at photos of me and my fiance together and asked her the location of which the photos were taken. The embassy process took about 4 hours and I would advise that you go to Bogota a couple of days earlier than the scheduled interview date to take care of the physical exams. Bogota is a congested city in the area of the doctor's office where the exam takes place. Good Luck

rfonteno Thanks for the update, the policies in Bogota seem to change on a whim, too bad they cannot update the infor on their website to reflect this! Do you if you are allowed to give a shipping address different from the application address? Since my Fiance lives outside of Bogota, getting the visa sent to somewhere in Bogota would be a lot quicker. We will call the Embassy Tuesday and ask, but I am curious if you knew.

Thanks
