When did she send in packet #3 info? Also, did she send by express mail, fax or both? My fiance sent hers both fax and express mail on 11/21 and just got letter on 12/15 that her interview is 12/28.

Be Careful Ayjaybee that you two don't overdue do it with the phone calls. In fact, I wouldn't even call until it appears that they are waaaaaaay overdue with the paperwork. A call a that point would be more legitiment. Calling any other time could just provoke them to take even more time or conveniently lose the papework. Until your fiancee is over here free and clear, you are at there mercy. Watch your steps.

It takes a while and depends on when she sent in the paperwork. If she missed the cut (I think its the 20th of the month) then the interview will not be for another month. Relax and it will happen soon - and yes did she fax it also? Good Luck

You need to call 011-571-315-1566. They accept calls for this only on Mon and Wed between 2-4pm.

I called and got all the info I needed including the interview date. The lady that answered was very polite and very helpful. Hope this helps.

Btw, what city is your fiance from?? We have a Jan 24 appt but my fiance in Cartagena has never gotten any packets from the embassy. The postal system in Colombia is horrible!

Oh yeah .. do the operators there speak spanish only or do they also speak english? My spanish is terrible to say the least and I could understand a little, but holding a conversation would be nearly impossible right now....lol. My fiancee is a bit tired of dealing with them and would rather wait than call and get fussed at again. Thanks, AJ

Calling the Embassy... Have the U.S. Citizen call and speak with the Embassy staff --- I recently saw a post on VJ -- when the Colombian Spouse/Fiancee calls and speaks spanish, they get treated poorly. But when the US Citizen calls and speaks English, the staff are polite and helpful.

I can tell you from personal experience that each time I (US Citizen) called and spoke in English, I had absolutely no problems.

Just an update ...Well I asked my fiancee when she sent the paperwork and she said end of November. I called the embassy on the pay-to-talk line (by the way don't do it because all they do is charge you to tell you just to wait) and they said ..... wait. So now the interview schedule comes up and surely enough her case isnt scheduled this month either. I know good things come to those who wait and patience is a virtue and all that other crap, but thats usually people who aren't waiting on something who say that. I want to call and see if they got the paperwork yet cause I know the mail system there sucks, but I really don't want to call them again just to hear them say "just wait". If anybody has any advice or ideas or even words of wisdom they sure would be appreciated now. Thanks AJ

k-1 visa I had my paper work done by a bogota visa service. I paid for the service and they do the paper work. but, I did this 6 months ago and have not heard from them in 2 months. I was told that my fiancee's papers was done, but she had not had her physical or shots yet and I will be in Cali next week. my 129f is done, but the service has not sent it yet. I am wondering what is going on?????????

also, I wouldn't count on the mail system in Colombia

what gets me is that temporary workers get faster service, also, check out the timelines for US CITIZENS filing for family members with I-130 versus PERMENENT RESIDENTS filing the same for family members. the PERMENENT RESIDENTS have a faster timeline/service.

maybe I should renounce my citizenship and take up Permenent Residency, buy a phuckin lettuce farm or cotton plantation and apply for my Novia's Visa as a goddam slave laborer or something.

Finally ... I called the embassy last week and found out they never received her fax and so I had her fax her things in, and now her interview is Feb. 14...YAY!!!! Now hopefully they approve it and she can get out here soon...(well atleast after carnival...lol) Thanks to everyone who has helped so far and hopefully all this work has not been in vain. Later AJ

Mission Accomplished!!! Well yesterday my fiancee had her interview and everything went smoothly. She said the interviewer was pleasant and didnt ask for any proof other than a few questions. Now time to get her here in the states!!!!! Thanks for all the help and information thus far. AJ
