Can anyone tell me if you have to be employed to obtain the fiance visa? I am getting laid off and plan to take 6 months off while going through 6 months of technical training. During this time, I would like to obtain the fiance visa and bring my sweatheart to the U.S.
Is one of the requirenments being employed?
Your help is appreciated.

DATAGRAMA says on Feb 10, 2006, 08:30: mmmmmmmm? iv) Inability to meet income requirement. If the sponsor is unable to meet the minimum income requirement in paragraph (c)(2)(iii) of this section, the intending immigrant is inadmissible unless the sponsor and/or the intending immigrant demonstrates significant assets or a joint sponsor executes a separate Form I-864.

rjstuff says on Feb 10, 2006, 10:27: Easiest is to get a co-sponsor for the K1 and hopefully you can meet the requirements for the I864 (AOS) on your own. Getting a co-sponsor now will enable you to bring her to USA within the next 6 months or so and by that time you will be all set to start a new job etc. A family member is a good bet for co-sponsorship (if not then even a friend will work.) Good Luck
