Any opinions on hiring a lawyer to help with a K1 Fiance visa as opposed to doing it myself.
P.S. I travel a lot and am not good with legal paperwork.
Thanks for your input

It was a spouse visa instead of the fiance visa, which I believe it takes longer. I also found out that there was a long waiting at the US Embassy for even a spouse visa, and someone suggested to write a couple of letters via all US postal service to my congressman and/or representative about my case to speed up the process. I don't think there will be a better argument than bringing your spouse to the US since in your case you are seeking a fiance visa. Anyhow, I think you can do it yourself and then be patient. However, if you have enough money to go around and hire a lawyer, do so. I myself don't like lawyers at all, for they are overprice for this type of work. Just be patient for a fiance visa does not carry as much weight as a spouse visa. Good luck!

Robert Jorge says on Jun 28, 2007, 20:33: Do it yourself. I didn't, and the only mistakes made were the attorney's fault. Also, the K3 (spouse) visa and the K1 have almost identicle timelines. At times, the K1 can actually be a little faster ... check timelines in Visajourney.com. Both visas have advantages and disadvantages. But time-wise, no significant difference. If you try to do it yourself, feel free to PM me and I'll give you some tips, info, or just chit chat. He who farts in church, sits in his own pew. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
