Feria de Cali, or Buenos Aires?

A friend I met on PBH has been planning this trip to Cali during the Feria de Cali. Seemed like it was all set. Now his traveling friend wants to go to Buenos Aires during that time. I say go to Cali. BA will always be there. He wants to know what is there to do during the daytime. It's just like show up and find out. Place will be packed. I told him I would do a post on PBH and ask the question. Said it might be interesting. So Let me ask the question to the PBH faithful. Where would you go and why. Cali during Feria de Cali, or Buenos Aires. What is there to do during the daytime? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. That way he, and his persuasive friend can read it and pick for themselves. I have been ther during Feria. Had a great time.Just would like to see what is said. Thanks.

To me, it is a no brainer. I live in Cali and have been to BA. As far as I know, there is nothing to do in BA at Christmas time. It all depends on what it is you are wanting to do. There is a food fair, Christmas displays, and many events.

Otra vez en casa...Cali!

If he's into those survival games, he can always go to AguaBlanca for a day and see if he's still alive for the night (Cali!)

Only first class snots live there-worse than the French in their attitude towards others NOT from BA. If you are willing to really get into the swing of things the CaliFeria is great.

Cali, couldn't hold Buenos Aires' nutsack, except maybe during feria de Cali, but still it would be tough. If you are single go to Cali, Colombianas are a lot more friendly than Portenas. How long are you going for, you could do both.

suerte

Hi everyone.....my first posting so go easy on my rookie ass
Buongone, Thanks for the post.....much respect

I will be the one going on the trip to Cali or BA. Basically we (3 other gringos from NYC and I) have decided on going to Brazil, and debating on the other place.

I like everyone's comments, they are very helpful. Cali rentals.....I came across your information on Craigslist, I might need you if things work out.

Goin south-agua blanca? and what is the Cali Biologico and Cali Rio? Sounds cool

Panther-don't know what a chiva is (emberrassed)

love the feedback everyone you guys are great.

We are looking for fun. Since we work hard up here, we want to relax down there.....nice dinners, poolside loungin, and commit absurd atrocities to ourselves as we party non stop at nite. Girls to talk to in clubs are a great thing.....since that is what a lot of the night would prob. consist of.....

Nice Mangoes thank you for your comments. I heard BA was amazing, but would it be like an NYC of south america? I would not mind trying something different down there. I heard we can do ATV rentals......climb a mountain one day......see some cool sh*t and party. Hopefully the girls would be friendly in a number of ways cause that is also what we would prefer (we are single). In BA the nightlife must be off the hook too, what would we do during the day? Not quite sure there. Sight seeing is good, but not most important. Although I did hear the city is spectacular......

it would be 5 nights. We just want to make sure we can accomplish some cool stuff during the day, but not much is necessary. Plus i want to see what everyone thought of the Fiera de cali and DEF. THE bullfight, cause i never saw that.

Thanks again Brothers......

I went to the Feria de Cali last year, and stayed at the Casablancahostel. Mike is the guy there that does the ATV tours through his Motolombia rental & tour business, and it was a good time for sure. Just be careful! Definitely some good photo ops, and there is some place along the way that does some zip line tour or something, but I passed on that since I'm a broke mofo.

The bullfight was definitely interesting, gotta check it out (unless you're a vegetarian PETA member). I missed the Cabalgata, but I definitely want to see it if I can make it back. I guess they moved it to the South of Cali last year for the first time. There was also an antique car show but I managed to miss that. The parade through the streets was impressive, so many people dancing and so many costumes.

The websites they had did not always have the correct info, and it seemed like the events changed on a day to day basis.

The Salsa Cabaret show was incredible, I tell everyone that Dancing with the Stars has nothin on it. Incredible dancing, beautiful women in extravagant costumes...and the kids getting down were the caca. It is a little expensive, but worth it.

I can't promise I can answer them, but feel free to ask me any questions.

And yah, I'm sure Argentina has cool stuff to do, but I haven't heard anyone say it was great except females, plus it's far, so forget that place...just my opinion though

They are Colombia's rural buses, but in Cali they are tricked out to be roving discoteques.
