Instead of going to the desfile, I went to the park by Rio Cali. They had a big concert, thousands of young people, lots of great music and cute calenas.

I got adopted by about six families, each of whom tried to set me up with their teenager kid on learning I was a gringo doctor. One of the families dragged me to a discoteca where I learned how to salsa and somehow downed a full bottle of aguardiente.

People at the park were going wild Pastuoso style with those extinguisher bottles that shoot foam twenty feet. I got covered with white crap several times, and was introduced to the mayor of Cali, for what that is worth. I am drunk as can be right now excuse my grammar and spelling.

Ended up dancing the night away at some discoteca after drinking way too much aguardiente. Man, I had a blast. Looking forward to tonight as well, sure to be una locura.

All the calenos I meet tell me how dangerous it is in Cali, ten cuidado, carry only a photocopy of my passport, do not accept drinks from anyone... then three seconds later start pouring me a drink of whiskey or aguardiente. Well, not from anyone else, I guess. I stayed pretty sober at the concert (Hay mucha mala gente aqui, lots of people said). I got absolutely hammered at the discoteca (Their motto - we only sell liqour, and in very big bottles), which I drank while dancing with some young thing.

Arthur, the concert was in the park by the Rio Cali with all the illuminaciones, close to La Merced. I do not know the name. Everyone told me today what a dangerous place that was to go, but there must have been 3000 cops there and 40000 people, all drinking beer at a dollar a litre.

It's as good as the jazz fest. But, the difference is at N.O. you hear more headline names. The bands at F.I.... you likely never heard of before, from around the world... but just as good or better... It grows every year... not as quite as much drunkeness as N.O.... but, enough... You'll like the special ambiance of Lafayette, and the Cajun culture.
And,... there should be a couple other newly arrived colombians in the house. :-)
